One thing springs to mind. The 3i humidifier gets its power from the S-8 unit. Be sure the unit is tightly seated (you should hear a click and then not be able to separate the two units without depressing the latch on the base of the unit). You should also see the small green pilot light on the humidifier change in brightness as the unit cycles on and off. If the light is not lit, that is a good sign that unit is not receiving power.

Of course, mouth breathing will make your mouth dry. so will b/p meds, as well as decongestants. Rested Gal's comments about mouth taping and nasla pillows are excellent. You might consider going that rount and seeing if it makes a difference for you.

That sounds like it is working fairly normally then.

Cheers,

Bill

H3i design

Post by GoofyUT » Sun Nov 12, 2006 10:09 pm

Staedtler raised concerns about the design of the H3i resrevoir, citing the small baffle wall as being the only thing that prevents air from the blower exiting directly through the outout port without picking up any humidity.

In fact, the H3i's reservoir is carefully designed with a channel that is intended to cause turbulence of the air in a swirling fashion as it exits that channel and passes over the surface of the water in the reservoir. That spiraling (tornadic) turbulence is designed to enhance the transfer of water vapor to the output stream.

The only down-side that I have experienced from this is a slight increase in the noise that the air makes as it passes through the H3i. As I mentioned earlier, I do find that the H3i provides AS effective humidification as does the REMstar humidifier, and I actually find that it does a better (more comfortable) job of humidifying than does the state-of-the-art Fisher and Paykel HC608 with its integrated heated hose.

Hope this helps.

I'm having problems w/my Humidaire 3i not heating at times. It is inconsistent so I'm suspecting that there is a bad "connection" between the Humidaire 3i and the Elite at the "plug".

And I have found w/the advent of cold weather in MI that I need to crank her up to maximum heat for comfort. I'm not sure how well that is going to work out when "real" cold Michigan weather arrives. I can't sleep or breathe well w/real warm air but I sure as the devil can't sleep when my nose is FROZEN and turning from red to blue!!!

My DME has offered to exchange this Humidaire 3i for another or both the Elite and Humidaire 3i since it wouldn't "act up" when I had it in for inspection of why on some 7-8 times over the course of some 30 days it will not heat and will only blow COLD!!! I can play w/it during the night when it is blowing cold and so far all but one night have been able to get it to starting heating again.

Slinky, GoofyUT informed me that the 3i doesn't really provide much heat to the water until the dial is at 4 or more.

When I turned it up to 4, BOY was the humidity nice and warm!

I don't know if this explains your problem or not.

BTW, do we have the same DME provider?

PM me and we will compare!
