Fisher Pickle doesn't repair the ICON they replace them. The first 2 years are free replacements, to 5 years they charge a flat replacement fee, after 5 years throw it away. Depending on model they usually charge $250 to $350 flat fees. The first 6 digits are the manufacture date: yr, Mo, Day.
How does that help somebody with a Fisher & Paykel machine?

I think that the poster was making a joke. Fisher Pickle = Fisher Paykel. Similar to your joke about D.H.

Time for a new machine.
That's probably right, but if you can post the exact message it might be helpful. Also, are you sure all the dust is out of the machine, it's not near other electronics, and that the vents are not blocked?
Where did this come from?
The warped mind of D.H. ? :!:

On a more serious note, D.H. must not be aware of the US FCC Part 15 requirements that devices must be able to ACCEPT any radio interference without malfunctioning.

https://transition.fcc.gov/Bureaus/Engi ... t63rev.pdf

And yes, I have an FCC General Class Radiotelephone License. ;)
You can tell me that there's a law, but you can't be certain that the law is being complied with! Also, even if equipment is compliant as delivered from the factory, how can you be sure that older equipment still operates in a compliant manner?

Besides that, what I said about dust and about obstructions stands regardless!

Depending on the ICON model, this expired recall may have applied.

https://www.accessdata.fda.gov/scripts/ ... m?id=72581
Fisher and Paykel Healthcare is recalling the ICON CPAP units because there is a potential power issue on certain ICON CPAP. These ICON CPAP units could potentially become inoperable, which would result in a lack of treatment to the patient's obstructive sleep apnea symptoms until a replacement unit is obtained.

"Pickle" is probably is the product of a spellcheck app with a pre-K vocabulary.
If they allowed us to choose the reading level of our spellchecker, this silliness would cease.

It was a brand new machine 2-1/2 years ago purchased via Medicare from X-Med Medical. Since it now seems to be doing this every night, I contacted X-Med today. I had also noticed a slight electrical burning scent so I shut it off and slept without my machine last night. Yuk - that very familiar bad headache, stuffy nose, and sore throat I used to wake up with every morning. X-Med said they have had numerous problems with the Icon, especially after a power outage (which I think may be what happened with mine) so they don't carry it anymore and Medicare covers either the Air Sense 10 or the Dreamstation, so even if Medicare approves a replacement it wouldn't be an ICON. However, they said I can't get one without visiting the dr and the dr has to write a letter that the machine is irreparable. I don't know how they figure that out. Bad news is that I couldn't get a dr appt for nearly a month. So I haven't decided what to do in the interim. I guess I'm going to try to use the machine. I disconnected the SoClean and am returning to the drudgery of washing everything. I just hope I will be able to get a new machine since it is hit or miss whether it will auto shut down and I don't know that it will do it in the dr's office. Sigh...

I thought the DME would be the one to declare the machine repairable.

If you get an AirSense 10, be sure it is the AutoSet or AutoSet for Her. The Elite is just a single pressure machine. They all use the same Medicare code.

I had an F&P from 2005, and it's still my "emergency" machine. The old F&P's were workhorses, but I understand that the new ones leave something to be desired.

If you don't mind used, consider buying from used goods sites like FB Marketplace. Look at either Resmed S9 Autoset, Resmed Airsense 10 Autoset or for her Autoset, Philips Respironics Dreamstation Auto.

I have recently bought a new backup (the Airsense 10 for her autoset) in case of any problems with my main unit. They both share the same supplies and power backup system. A used S9 Autoset would have been cheaper, but I got tired of finding one in my local area.

My post was just an FYI on F&P machines and want people be looking at if they choose to get it repaired.

Fisher Pickle was a nickname the staff at hospital use to call the F&P humidifiers on the ventilators, even the US staff for F&P would call them Fisher Pickles from time to time. It just a habit still.
Some fun useless FYI: The old humidifiers use to play the New Zealand's national Anthem, it was fun playing it for patients and not telling them first. Kids on vents use to get a kick out of it. Their machine breathing for them is playing music!!! Where's that music coming from!!!

To jubilla (the OP),

You never did say what the exact error message was!

Thanks for the explanation. i assumed it was a derisive name much like Crapria and Lin(don't)care.
Considering how often derisive names are used here, PR needs to lighten up a bit, IMHO. And, I know, nobody asked me. So what?? ;)
