Change humidity on Vacation?

Going to Florida in a couple of days. Its going to be more humid than New Jersey in Winter. Should I lower my humidity or does it really not make much of a difference?

Humidity is a comfort issue...If you start getting your face wet while you sleep, you know it is set too high.

I don't change my humidity setting at all if I travel.
I use a heated hose so the humidity delivered is more constant and not dependent on ambient humidity so much. So I just leave the settings as they are at home and if I happen to go somewhere that the ambient air is more humid I still get the same level of humidity as at home but the machine won't need to use as much water to give me that same level of humidity.

This helps eliminate variables that we can't control like indoor vs outdoor humidity when heating or air conditioning is involved.

Even if I didn't have a heated hose I wouldn't change the settings but instead would allow the machine to try to maintain whatever setting I was using at home no matter where I went.

I learned a long time ago that my nasal mucosa didn't like it when I changed the humidity being delivered. It doesn't like change at all.
Likewise I don't change it at home if it is raining outside and the windows are open and I have the windows open...I just leave the settings as is and know that the machine will use very little water during the night but my nasal mucosa won't have to deal with different levels of moisture in the air by my trying to mess with things.

The machine just adds to ambient humidity...to come up with whatever setting you have chosen.

In Indiana the weather changes many times a day. If I played with the know on my HH, it would be broken off. Problem solved, I no longer use a HH, works fine that way, 3 years now. Jim

If you bring the humidifier you should simply use the same settings - the newer devices adjust to the ambient humidity. On my machine, there is a "classic" setting that uses a constant temperature, but the newer version is preferred by most.

I found that I can go without humidity in Florida, especially if I open a window at night. That way i can leave the humidifier at home when I go for a short trip. If you travel frequently to humid locations, you might try going a night without when you're there.
