I have no idea what moderation is really about, but I loved the idea of this thread when you first tried to make it work.
Now that you are all powerful, in addition to the snazzy truck, I hope you get a magic button to send things to the DuKe it out thread.

... some of us like being naughty and reading things .... C L RFUL ... in between learning and being inspired.

I hope there's a special place where improper font use can be ridiculed and other socially unacceptable behaviors examined. Good can come from foul. Isn't that whole mold/penicillin story true?

This thread (I think?) also contains that "Johnny Post" that was so great about freedom. I can't remember it because I have no brain cells left but I do remember thinking that ... W W ... that was great ... Like this Pugsy thread idea was great.

And even though I know nothing really of the internet, I immediately got the vibe that CPAPtalk was a bit of fresh air in a choked up world gasping for freedom.
This thread is a fine example of causes of the downside of this forum. We may have gotten rid of a problem child, but we have many more here to keep the trouble stirred,up. Jim

It smells like the diapers need to be ran thru the wash again, this time use bleach.

No...I won't be sending people who are wanting to duke it out to this thread.

This thread was meant as an idea to get people to take the in fighting out of a helping thread...they are going to fight...just take the fight out of a thread that was started because some asked a question and needed help. Like if you have to fight...take the fight here because we don't care how bloody the fight gets here. It didn't have to be this particular thread it could easily have been a thread just for the people who were fighting and named it so and so duke it out or whatever.

This thread needs to die...it's long and way past its useful life span.

Now I do have the power to move posts (once I figure out how to do it) but I really don't want to do that but I will if I have to if the fighting gets so bad that the thread that was supposed to be a helping thread becomes nothing but a blood bath of fighting.
Most likely I would create a thread devoted to just the people who are doing the fighting...should things get that bad.
I won't be moving posts to this thread here that I started.

Heated discussions are going to happen...everyone knows that. I have no plans to try to stop them or do anything unless they get out of hand with the name calling and derailing of a helping thread so far off track that it becomes a useless thread or the fighting is likely to run off the person who originally sought an answer to a problem.
Figuring out the line...that's going to be tough but I think most of us know it when they see it...when the fighting ends up being nothing but
"you are an asshole"
"no you are an asshole"
"no you are a bigger asshole"
and so on and we end up with 2 pages of nothing but retorts about how big of an asshole someone is.

I don't care how many times so and so calls so and so an asshole or how big of an asshole...just don't do it in a helping thread. Take the fight outside so that there's no collateral damage.

That makes PERFECT sense to *me*, Pugsy.

(...but I have a life time of experience knowing that what makes sense to me often leaves blank stares on the faces of others? ... and worse ... occasionally I get some of this reflected at me when I am in even my most sincere and peaceful place? LOL ... I'm old now so it's OK. When I was four it was confusing.)

Honestly, I am just interested in watching things unfold here. Tempted to see it as a microcosm of the world in general except I know nothing is ever that linear and easy.

I am not interested in politics or moderation or thought control or the internet really so it is odd to me at times to be following this subject and thinking alongside you guys. The few folks I *personally* know who I told I was actually posting online are in disbelief it's so out of character.

But I suppose it's ALWAYS been true that the one you're sleeping with does seem to influence all aspects of your life?
...so I blame xpap. Since that's my new bed partner and what drew me here. LOL

It is different than the real world though.
I can't imagine what will happen in the real world if we take these internet ideas and apply them.

I guess more gated communities?
...and reeducation camps ~~~

~~~ a vow of silence is probably the only real life solution for someone like me when that starts to happen ~~~
and sunglasses (... they can usually see it in my eyes that I'm out here thinking unapproved thoughts )
Wait!!
Before you lock down this thread -- I want to get my first, last, and only post within this thread as defensive punches back at the trolls that attacked me here for no reason ...
I won't lock the thread.
You all can fight here all you want and I don't care...that's what it's original intention was but I won't be adding more fights here myself.
I would prefer to let it die a nice normal death and fade into the archives and hopefully no need for another such thread but I won't hold my breath on that one.
Now I am not saying that I won't create a new one if I think it is needed....
Oh heck... I thought that maybe you would delete this entire thread. I think I'll delete my "the end" post.
1. It won't die, nothing ever dies here, we still have the stirrers among us, plus New members will still be bringing up OLD posts. A guaranteed restart of any conflict. We have made a good start as resolving our forum problems, a few more tweaks, such as making OLD posts READ ONLY.
2. I had hoped your moderation would cut down on the need for posts like this.
Good Luck with your New Job, it won't be much fun, most things aren't after a while. Jim
Who said the new job was "fun" now??? Sure wasn't me.
Wait...it's going to get less "fun" later??? Oh crap, I am in trouble for sure.
And I am doing this for free...and less "fun"...makes a person wonder if they are sane or not.
See you all later...I gotta go call and get an appointment with my shrink.
"Hurding" cats?
Maybe herding, or, my favorite, hurdling cats.
I have puncture wounds from the last time I tried that with the Siamese.
Chunkyfrog, the cat-juggler (or, cat-jugular, as the case may be) is now in time out for correcting other people's spelling.
People do not misspell--we have an app for that.
Most leave it on and suffer the consequences;
Others turn it off for the same result.
Since this came up,, one of my pet peeves is correcting the spelling or mispelling, as the case may be. of someone who comes here for help with their sleep apeonia. For some of us grammor and spelling is very important. For others, not so much. This is afterall, a sleep apnea forum, and not everyone who has sleap apnea can spell or even considers it inportant. They come for help on this journey; not help with there vocabulery. Ya all got it, right?
