distilled water vs filtered water

I always put a splash of vinegar in with the water. I like how it smells and it keeps the tank spotless. Not sure this is manufacturer approved, but it sure works great for me.

We are going to London and distilled water isn't a regular thing so 5 days with out distilled water. Will that mess things up?

When you use the regular water, the pure water molecules will evaporate into the air you're breathing. The minerals will remain behind, making the water left behind more concentrated with minerals. Every morning, empty, rinse and dry your chamber an you shouldn't have any issue. When you return home, you MAY have a little scale buildup, but it can easily be removed with some salt and vinegar.

When in London - or indeed, any part of England - go to the nearest store in the Sainsbury's supermarket chain. (Ask: "Excuse me, where's the nearest Sainsbury's?" They'll know what you mean.)

Once inside, head for the bottled water section. Look for 'still Scottish mountain water'.

It is very soft spring water. It has the least amount of magnesium carbonate and calcium carbonate of any UK bottled water, and very low levels of minerals.

It is the nearest thing you will get (here) to distilled water that is cheap - 45 UK pence (about 60 US cents) for 2 litres (about 3.5 pints).

When I travel, I use whatever non-carbonated bottled water I can lay my hands on, and have done this for up to two weeks straight without noticing any mineral buildup in the tank. Sometimes it is "spring" water, other times "purified" water like Dasani or Aquafina.

Tonight is my first night - an "auto-titration" machine for a week. The RN said only "distilled" water in the humidifier. I'm OK with that. I have a filter (PuR Brand) on my faucet. Is that water OK? What about "bottled" water from the supermarket as opposed to "distilled"? Comments? Thoughts?

Distilled water won't have calcium, scale and many other substances that can harm your machine, but not you.

it won't harm your machine..... it'll just make you have to descale it with vinegar or CLR or some other acid occasionally.
