Jaw pain

Post by northernlights » Mon Sep 25, 2006 11:32 am

Does anyone else have a sore jaw when you wake up in the morning? It feels like I've been clenching my jaw all night. I use a nasal mask with no mouth-taping, and I'm pretty sure I keep my mouth shut all night (something my wife didn't think possible!!)

Thanks,

Steve.

Had that problem when I first started cpap. I'm pretty sure that I was grinding my teeth, which unlike most people here I wasn't doing before cpap. It was b/c I was so focused on keeping my mouth shut. If you do a search on bruxism, or other similiar terms you will find some helpful posts. I have not had that problem for about 3 weeks now. I have "trained" my tongue to rest on the roof of my mouth with the tip of it behind my front teeth. I do it most of the day and especially when I go to sleep. This is a trick I learned on here. Good luck.

Jaw Pain

I've been using the CPAP for a month. Feels like my teeth are being re-arranged. Lower jaw being forced forward no doubt is causing this. I'm thinking of asking to get the pressure of my CPAP reduced in order to help nullify the problem - while maintaining the positive air flow required. Love getting the sleep / hate the fact my mouth doesn't close the same way anymore. Chewing gum seems to aggravate the problem.

I used to have this problem. Until I stopped using the Ultra Mirage
Full-Face mask.
