Need advise, please
I've been using the ResMed AirSense 10 for 8 months. During my sleep study I averaged 40 events per hour. The pressure has been increased from 6 to 8 after 3 months usage as I was still having too many events. I've been using nasal pillows but started having leakage issues and the pillows were hurting the inside of my nostrils. Also since the headgear isn't adjustable I would constantly have to wake up during the night to straighten the headgear. (I have a small head and not much hair) Three days ago I switched to a full face mask (airFit F10) and the results have been horrible. Constant leakage, bridge of nose is very sore and cheeks are rubbed almost raw. So, (finally to my question ) I've been trying to do some research and it appears the Philips Respironics Nuance Pro Nasal Pillow System has adjustable headgear and looks like it will work on my ResMed. Does anyone have any experience with changing to this and if so, how has it worked out. Thanks much in advance.

Have you tried a larger size of the mask you now have? How about a mask liner from Padacheek.com? How about loosening the mask just a bit (better than overtightening)?
Mask fit is so personal and what works for others may not work for you... you really need to try them all on for yourself.

All masks work with all cpap machines. All masks do not work with all faces however.
There are mask liners available to make Full face masks more comfortable and less leaky. You can try this out by making a liner out of an old t-shirt.

I did loosen the mask a little bit last night and on the MyAir report today I had 0 out of 20 for mask leakage. While using the nasal pillows I was averaging around 2 or 3 events per hour so that seemed to be working.

The Nuance Nasal pillows are nice little nasal pillows and the headgear is easily adjustable.
Sounds like you were using the nasal pillow mask that I use...the ResMed AirFit P10...it has a one size fits all headgear and the only real adjustments you can do with it (it does come in 2 sizes though) is spread the straps on the head to either increase or reduce tension. It does sometimes want to slide up the back of the head...one of the disadvantages I suppose but since it doesn't happen very often I don't worry about it.
If you want to go back to it until you figure out a different mask choice, if you can go up a size in the nasal pillow that might help with the discomfort. I found that if I used one that was a little small it tried to crawl up into my nostrils and that hurt...next size up didn't crawl up in my nostrils (BTW this advice pertains to any nasal pillow mask).
I have used the Nuance and had good success with it and those gel cushions are super comfy but the headgear has more of a presence on my face and head than I prefer so I went back to the Swift FX nasal pillows (the P10 wasn't available yet).
You might also look at it...headgear is still easily adjustable and it's probably a little more stable than the P10 but doesn't have as much headgear "stuff" on the face and head.

It's a crap shoot...what works well for one person doesn't always work well with the next person for any number of reasons so we pretty much have to try them ourselves to find out what works and doesn't work for each of us as an individual.
Full face masks present additional challenges if for no other reason than there's simply more area touching the skin that needs to be kept sealed. Nasal pillows shouldn't hurt or cause sores..if they do either the straps are too tight or the wrong size is being used.
If you still have the P10 (or whatever nasal pillow mask you were using) try the next size up in pillows.
If the Nuance looks interesting to you then by all means give it a try. I think everyone should at least try a mask if they think it looks interesting and they are able to try it.
I have tried LOTS of various masks over the years just because they looked interesting...some worked out and some didn't but I learned more about myself and my own preferences and needs during the process.

Thank you. I didn't realize the AirFit headgear came in two sizes. I thought about taking my old headgear and trying to cut it and sew it back together just a little smaller. I hadn't thought of using a larger nasal pillow. I use a medium and one night I tried the small but didn't notice any difference. My medical supply is totally useless, they don't have a clue what they are doing and I live in a small town and don't have a choice. I probably shouldn't have decided on my own that I needed a full face mask but I didn't want to go back to my sleep doctor in a different town and have to do the titration test again. After using the full face mask for 3 nights I'm beginning to think my facial shape just may not work with ff. By the time the mask is tight enough to seal my lower face it's way too tight on the upper part. Tried adjusting upper and lower straps but doesn't seem to make a difference. Tonight I'm going back to my nasal pillow and try the larger size.
Thanks everyone, I appreciate the help.
