Are you issuing sound opinion, or do you just have an ax to grind because of your inability to contribute to the forum in a positive way?

There are a few trolls on here constantly causing trouble, and PaleRider is not one of them.

Sheffey,

I see a lot of negativity as a serious liability. The forum is not a substitute for seeing a competent medical professional and changing doctors if you need to, the notification below says so.

I have no dog in this race, but I do see the negativity and the INTERNET DOCTORING (also referring to doctors as idiots) as monetarily harmful if action is taken - especially if CPAP.com is referring clients to this website for technical support. Even without trying this could be a nice rainy day for an attorney or three. Truthfully, I would just shut the site down because to continue after the $600 judgement (whether or not that holds) is to invite litigation. (Or the owners can take a chance - keep in mind that if you ask your attorney they would be paid in the litigation so it is kinda like asking the fox how best to guard the hen house.)

Maybe YOU will be sued for $600k for offering legal advice without a license to practice law.

GettingBetter,

Why are you constantly negating this forum and members you choose not to like?

Forum members are providing education.
They are not going into the home, setting up the machine, changing pressures, etc.
They are not wearing white coats and masquerading as licensed professionals in a health care facility.
They are not billing Medicare or Medicaid.
There is no law against calling someone an idiot.
There is no law against a patient reading a clinical manual.
There is no law against a patient changing their pressure.
Are you suggesting lawyers sue CPAP patients too? Good luck with that.

Why do you have a problem with education?

GettingBetter,

Why are you constantly negating this forum and members you choose not to like?

Forum members are providing education. Agreed. In some states this is the purview of licensed professionals. Can't pump your own gas in New Jersey either, or couldn't not sure if that is still true.
They are not going into the home, setting up the machine, changing pressures, etc. No, but you are asking (demanding in many cases) for home data and making judgments and comments that are presented as medical advice.
They are not wearing white coats and masquerading as licensed professionals in a health care facility. But it is being done on this forum in a pretty sneaky way.
They are not billing Medicare or Medicaid. Nope but they are working with Medicare patients that purchase from the Website and may be referred to the website. Also, if "compensation" to advisory members is in the form of kickbacks, discounts or other it opens a giant can of worms.
There is no law against calling someone an idiot. If you are calling into question medical advice to negate it and insert your own medical advice - there might be a law or three on that one.
There is no law against a patient reading a clinical manual.
There is no law against a patient changing their pressure. - If that patient thinks he/she is getting professional advice because of the lack of moderation and the way the internet doc presents, could be.

Are you suggesting lawyers sue CPAP patients too? Good luck with that. <== Why do you have a problem with education?

Forum members are providing education. Agreed. In some states this is the purview of licensed professionals. Can't pump your own gas in New Jersey either, or couldn't not sure if that is still true. There is no state law that prevents education. The "state authorities" are not removing medical literature from the libraries or banning people from using medical libraries. There are countries that ban women from an education. Where exactly do you live?

They are not going into the home, setting up the machine, changing pressures, etc. No, but you are asking (demanding in many cases) for home data and making judgments and comments that are presented as medical advice. The information on this website is not presented as medical advice.

They are not wearing white coats and masquerading as licensed professionals in a health care facility. But it is being done on this forum in a pretty sneaky way.
Please explain.

They are not billing Medicare or Medicaid. Nope but they are working with Medicare patients that purchase from the Website and may be referred to the website. .
This statement alone shows how misinformed you really are. Medicare does not reimburse purchases on this website. Medicare does not prevent patients from paying cash for supplies.

Also, if "compensation" to advisory members is in the form of kickbacks, discounts or other it opens a giant can of worms.

There are no "advisory" members on this forum. I am not aware of "kickbacks" or "discounts".

There is no law against calling someone an idiot. If you are calling into question medical advice to negate it and insert your own medical advice - there might be a law or three on that one.
No one is presenting them self as a doctor or health care provider.

There is no law against a patient reading a clinical manual.

There is no law against a patient changing their pressure. - If that patient thinks he/she is getting professional advice because of the lack of moderation and the way the internet doc presents, could be.
What "internet doc".

Are you suggesting lawyers sue CPAP patients too? Good luck with that. <== Why do you have a problem with education?
Why are you pushing misinformed legal advice on a self help forum?
