Would it be ok to place one of these near the intake filter to add some fragrance?

I recently got the SoClean2 and I LOVE it, but it gives off a super funky odor that I am having a hard time adjusting to. I have some extra of these air freshners and thought maybe this would work. I am thinking since everything is enclosed it may since it won't be sucking in any substance, just scent. I looked into the aromatherapy items sold specifically for cpap and I'm hesitant to spend that amount of money on something just to "try" it. Scent is very subjective and I'm worried I would get it and hate it.

Re: Scent question
To fill your lungs with chemicals to get rid of the smell of other chemicals is surely not good for you. A simple organic soap and water rinsing routine for your tank, hose and masks should be sufficient and smell good. Time to simplify I think...

Re: Scent question
I do the aromatherapy thing with my cpap just because I like to do it but a little goes a real long way when placed next to the air intake. I use both regular essential oils and the PurSleep oils depending on what I am in the mood for. I just put a drop or two on a cotton ball and place the cotton ball on a little ceramic dish (protect the table finish) and then if I need to adjust strength of the aroma I just move the dish closer or further away.
I would be afraid that those car things would put off way too strong of a scent if brand new. Now if older and weaker it might not be all that strong but I suppose you could do the same thing...move it further away if too strong.

Re: Scent question
You're free to do whatever you want. However, remember that everything you breathe goes right into your bloodstream. There's only a thin membrane between the air in your lungs and your bloodstream. Would you take whatever fragrencifying chemicals are in that product and inject it into your vein?
It looks like the SoClean uses ozone to clean. Ozone is really aggressive towards plastics, and has to be neutralized. I can expect it might smell funky afterward.
A safer alternative to using an air-fragrencifier for getting rid of smells is a mixture of baking soda and water, or hydrogen peroxide. Both will get rid of odors quickly and safely.

I bought this awhile back:

I was able to find out what I like, and order more.

Re: Scent question
Just rub some on your mask.
And don't let the dogs sleep with you.
