What a difference....
Initial sleep study showed 40-45 "events" per hour. I'm now down to 1. Did my oxygen sat test last night. No dips, drops etc....
I slept 7 hours without waking up.
Now on to fight the insurance company for full coverage!

Congrats! Isn't it awesome when it works well?
Veni, vidi, Velcro. I came, I saw, I stuck around.
Dx 11/07: AHI 107, central apnea, Cheyne Stokes respiration, moderate-severe O2 desats. (Simple OSA would be too easy.

Congrats! Did your daytime sleepiness go away?tiggybubba wrote:Initial sleep study showed 40-45 "events" per hour. I'm now down to 1. Did my oxygen sat test last night. No dips, drops etc....

I know how you feel. After 1+ month of struggling, suffering (from stomach bloating) and small incremental improvements, I am sleeping 7+ hours a day and ALL my daytime sleepiness is gone!

Re: What a difference....
I'm still feeling fatigue but its slowly getting better. I can see that I will feel better when its cooler.
I'm hoping to start back at the gym soon.

That's fantastic. I think the only way I'll get 7 hours without waking up is to soak my filters in chloroform.

It can take a while. It took me a month of sleeping a lot and feeling fatigued before I feel the improvement. The sleep debt has to be paid off.tiggybubba wrote:I'm still feeling fatigue but its slowly getting better. I can see that I will feel better when its cooler.

What a pleasant post.
It took me about 3 years to find the mask of my dreams, but in the meantime, I began to feel better after 2 nights even though the CPAP awakened me a few times. No one is going to take my little machine away from me.

How is it that so many people can come on here and say that they still feel like crap after starting CPAP therapy - in my case, I feel much worse - yet I can go to my doctor and tell him this and have him tell me he's never had anyone tell him that before? His suggestion was to stop using CPAP for two weeks to see how I felt.
Re: What a difference....
Given the number of people who have ill fitting masks, aerophagia symptoms, etc I'd venture a guess that the titration studies, their resulting pressure setting and masks that are suggested by the DME are little more than wild guesses.nycdug wrote:How is it that so many people can come on here and say that they still feel like crap after starting CPAP therapy - in my case, I feel much worse - yet I can go to my doctor and tell him this and have him tell me he's never had anyone tell him that before? In my case, I told the sleep doc that I've always been a side or stomach sleeper (even as a kid, I couldn't sleep on my back, because I can't get enough air while laying on my back, even when awake). My titration study states that I slept on my back the entire time (thanks to ambien). What good are those results, if I'm going to sleep on my side and my initial study indicates a huge difference when sleeping supine (on my back)?

haven't you noticed that doctors don't tend to listen to people about cpap?nycdug wrote:How is it that so many people can come on here and say that they still feel like crap after starting CPAP therapy - in my case, I feel much worse - yet I can go to my doctor and tell him this and have him tell me he's never had anyone tell him that before? the attitude tends to be "just shut up and do what we tell you to"
that's why they call it COMPLIANCE instead of usage
