ABSOLUTELY!!!! Washing gets rid of facial oils and makes the silicone seal better on your face.

Re: Does face washing help FFM fit and reduce leaks?
When I was using the Quattro Air I absolutely had to wash my face and cushion every night. Failure to do so made my already high leak rates completely unacceptable. Still, I found I couldn't tame my leaks with the Air, and only was able to get me leaks under control by switching to the P10.photonic wrote:Does face washing before bed help FFM fit and and lower mask leaks?

Leaks can be helped with the use of mask liners if face washing doesn't help enough, but absolutely do wash your face before putting the mask on..

Re: Does face washing help FFM fit and reduce leaks?
Regarding washing one's face: A lot people on this forum use Lansinol, made from sheep's lanolin - it's a skin lubricant that may help some people reduce FFM leaks if their silicone cushion is directly on their skin. In that case, washing would probably be a waste of time. (As a side note: I haven't heard Lansinol lubricant mentioned much lately - what's up with that? Last year it was all the rage!)
If you're a male, (or a female with a five o'clock shadow ) I've found a close shave helps prevent leaks quite a bit, especially shaving before bedtime. However, that's a big PITA, needless to say. Shaving is not such a big deal with nasal pillows, which is one of their big pluses. I sure miss those carefree nasal pillow days <sigh>

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
Re: Does face washing help FFM fit and reduce leaks?
Thanks for the great reply. I never usually wash my face prior to bed much to the HORROR of my wife! I will definitely do it now and I start my new FFM and ASV tomorrow night. Thanks for the great advice and breaking my old scuzzy habit - LOL

Re: Does face washing help FFM fit and reduce leaks?
Another vote for washing my face right before bed. I use lava hand soap; yes the soap with the pumice. I get my hands lathered up then scrub my face. I use the same technique for my mask. Removes the oils and rinses clean.

For me it's a 100% absolute necessity, as is washing the FFM's silicone seal daily with warm water and baby shampoo upon arising so that it has time to dry before bedtime.

It's generally considered gentle and has minimal perfumes, etc. You can also use dish detergent or liquid soap (Ivory or similar). Just look for something without a lot of fragrance or antibacterial agents.photonic wrote:Why the baby shampoo?

Re: Does face washing help FFM fit and reduce leaks?
I use pre-moistened face cleansing clothes to clean my face at night (less messy and less hassle than soap & washcloth), then I go over my face with a toner. For me, I like Olay products. It has helped me a lot with keeping the mask from leaking.
As far as washing my mask, I also use baby shampoo. I found a Lavender scented baby shampoo which I love. I wash my mask, hose & filters in a baby shampoo bath every other Sunday.

Re: Does face washing help FFM fit and reduce leaks?
Face washing is like washing your towels or your sheets. A complete waste of time! If you do it today in another couple of months it will look like you never did it. Why waste time doing if you will soon have to do it all over again?
