mask parts

Post by GrandmaC » Tue Jul 08, 2014 4:11 pm

Hi,

I use a Res Med blue gel nasal mask. I was told that the gel cushion needs to be replaced every month. I am wondering how often that clear plastic film that covers it and holds it to the mask has to be replaced. I just ordered a new blue gel thing and expected it to come with the clear film thing that's on the outside, but it didn't. I hope someone knows what I'm talking about because I wasn't able to find the name of the part I'm asking about.

Comfort gel Blue Nasal Replacement CUSHION/FLAP is what I ordered. I thought maybe the clear film thing was called the flap, but it didn't come with it.

if this is the mask
https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... dgear.html

then in the upper right side of the page is a link :replacement parts: it should show you all of the details you are looking for.

I'm sure it was your DME that told you that the cushion needed replacement every month. Actually the cushion will last many months. When it no longer holds a seal...it needs replacing.

The cushion is the blue thing. The flap is the thin clear silicone thing.

I used individual comfortgel and comfortgel blue cushions and flaps for many months if not years. Occasionally one would break or tear. They'd slowly get more and more grungy and I'd replace them.

I suggest getting a few spares as your insurance will pay and then swap them out once a week or so and let the spare dry out for a week or so.
