Can anyone translate this prescription?

Post by zzzelda » Thu Jul 03, 2014 2:43 pm

I can't read this...

...any help appreciated. I rather ask you guys than my doc or dme...

I think I understand, um, pressure is 14 cm H2O..."full facemask" and "heated humidifier." But I'm clueless about the rest.

I get that you need C-Flex (first line, right before 14cm) and there's AHI but I don't know what the rest is beyond what you've determined as FF mask and heated humidifier... the rest is totally illegible, except for "2" in the second line - might that be for your lower pressure? Good Luck

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

Thanks, Library Lady. I'm trying CPAP again for the first time in many years after mixed results with an orthodontic mouthpiece. Trying to find DME. Don't want to be more clueless than I have to be...

Either C-Flex = 2, or humidity = 2... both are user adjustible from the regular menu... no need to go into the secret menu.

14cmh20 cflex setting of 2. Complete with ahi meter. Full face mask and heated humidifier. (Pic is cut off, not 100% sure what the ahi line says)

Second line could be "Comfort setting 2"

I think this URL will show all of the 'AHI line.' I'm not the best at embedding stuff.

Amazed that you folks can read this prescription! Thank you!

Can anyone translate this prescription?
It looks identical to the first prescription I was given: "Shake well and inhale two puffs in each ear four times daily for seven days."

Hope it works out for you better than it did for me.

Why don't you ask the Dr who wrote it what it says??!

Nope. This script is NOT going to get you a Resmed S9 VPAP.

14cm and C-flex comfort setting @ 2 will push a DME towards supplying a PR CPAP/APAP machine.

The mention of AHI data will force the DME to supply either a PR model 460 (CPAP Pro) or a PR model 560 (AUTO CPAP, i.e. APAP).

The fact that the script specifies the C-flex amount may cause the tech who sets the machine up to lock the patient out of the comfort settings. Not a big deal, we can help you get into the clinical settings to unlock the comfort settings if need be.

I sure wouldn't want this doctor writing a script for medication. That could be dangerous if the pharmacist misinterprets the handwriting.

When my SIL was in medical school I kept asking her "have you had your messy handwriting class yet?"

Now my daughter intends to apply to medical school. She's been practicing the messy handwriting her entire life.

Good catch, robysue. That slipped by me

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.

WTF is a doctor doing hand writing prescriptions in this day and age?

Especially with bad cursive. People die from prescription mistakes.

I dunno. A couple of well-placed scribbles might just do the trick...
