New User Looking For Help

Post by sryan31 » Tue Jul 01, 2014 9:46 pm

Hi all,
Just wanted to say hi and see if I could get any feedback on my results with sleepyhead. A little info on me, I am 6'1", 225 lbs use a ff mask resmed comfort-fit. I use a PR System One REMstar Auto Series 60.

I had an older version of this, non auto and my pressure was set at 13 (no data) so I set this one min 10 max 14. As far as I can tell looks ok to me, what are everyone's thoughts on my data?

You don't need to include all those other graphs beyond
Events
Flow rate
Pressure
Leak
and of course the stuff on the left side

I am having a hard time reading the numbers and seeing the images...a bit small for my eyes.
I even clicked on it in hopes to increase the size and I can't.

How are you feeling? How are you sleeping? Any problems?

After clicking on the image, it will open a new page at photobucket.com. Click on the magnifying glass on the bottom right corner of the image. Another image will open, and you click on the magnifying glass a second time.

Thanks for the response, I feel ok really, much better with the new machine. I sleep ok, I do get woken by the mask leaking from my movement. I adjusted my min pressure down to 8, will check results tonight.

OK, how about this graph? On the 1st graph I had my machine set to 10 min 14 max and it looks like ahi was around 2.6. Looking at the pressure I saw that I hit the pressure floor a bit so I thought I should lower the pressure.
the 2nd graph is with min 8 max 14 and ahi is 5.

I don't know what the 1st leak was but the 2nd leak was my hose coming off at the max

So any suggestions on this? I do feel a bit rougher today with the higher ahi but the previous night was bad due to me waking up abruptly around 12:30 am and not being able to go to sleep again until 3:00 am

It appears that lowering the minimum pressure wasn't the way to go. It allowed a lot more apnea events or collapse of the airway to occur.
The minimum pressure is probably the most critical setting when using APAP mode. It has to be sufficient to hold the airway open and give the machine a better head start if it feels the need to increase the pressures for whatever reason.

When the minimum pressure is more optimal there's a good chance that the maximum pressure won't be needed as often and the pressure line is more stable as evidenced by your prior night.

If anything I would have maybe increased the minimum maybe 0.5 cm and not lowered it. If you are consistently seeing snores and FLs then likely the airway is still trying to collapse a little and the machine can't quite get to where it needs is a timely fashion.

Yes, thank you...these images are much easier on my tired old eyes.

Thank you sir,

Makes perfect sense, I will put it 10.5 cm min 14 max and see how that works.

Ms. Pugsy,

Looks like your advice worked I upped my pressure to 11 min and kept my max @ 14. I know you suggested going up .5 but I was running strait 13 previously, based on my sleep study so I was not worried with that big of a jump.

Thanks again

Looking good there. I forgot you were used to 13 cm....11 is a piece of cake. Good job.
