Nasal Stuffiness with Swift FX Pillows

Post by Luthie2006 » Fri Jun 27, 2014 12:51 pm

Still a newbie and a trooper: Since the WISP mask worked but gave me bruises on my nose, I have switched to the Swift FX pillows, starting last night.
The air that rushed in gave me total nasal stuffiness all day, just getting a little better now. Any suggestions? Do I have it too tight or just too much air rushing into my nostrils? Very stuffy feeling all day. Is this common? And any suggestions for a lady's hair how to get the band in the back to stop slipping upwards? Thank you verymuch.

Hi, Luthie, I have a similar issue with nasal pillows; I don't stay stuffy all day just when I'm wearing the pillows. It happens about an hour or so into wearing them. It's a shame since I find pillows more comfortable. Maybe someone on here will have a solution for us. I use a chin strap and it tends to keep the slippage with whatever mask I'm using to a minimum.

Thanks Tuzacat: Maybe someone would tell us what to do. I have tried Ayr saline spray, everything.
Do you put the chin strap over the headgear or under?

I use it under. I have made a little tube of soft fabric which protects my face from chin strap marks and also acts as a pad for the mask straps. Just more comfortable for me.

I only had sinus issues with the FX when the humidity was too high. Once it was adjusted to my body's happy level, all has been great. As far as the hair, how about a ponytail? I wear the rear band just under the fattest part of the back of my head, which keeps it from slipping...

Sounds to me like you need to adjust the humidity - either up or down, it a very individual thing. Just move it slowly in one direction or the other, see if that makes a different, and experiment by changing very gradually over several nights.

I have used nasal pillows from day one along with PurSleep aromatherapy in Clear. Laniosh nipple cream on the nares and I am good to go (to dreamland). Every night. No congestion, happy sleep. In 5+ years with CPAP only one cold that caused congestion but the Clear helped me drift off to happy land
