Not using humidifier?...
Not using humidifier?...
When I travel on a one night stay I haven't been using my humidifier. That said I have the PR System One Auto with humidifier. I was reading another thread about detaching it to use without it. I have just been turning the humidifier off and not filling the chamber with water. Is that wrong? Am I going to ruin my machine? I would rather not disassemble the machine and leave it attached but no water if it won't harm it.
Re: Not using humidifier?...
It's fine to turn the humidifier off and run the machine with no water in the humidifier tank. You will not do any damage to the machine that way. (Your nose might miss the humidity though.)9forus wrote:When I travel on a one night stay I haven't been using my humidifier. That said I have the PR System One Auto with humidifier. The people who detach the humidifier altogether are often trying to minimize the amount of weight and the size of the equipment they're bringing along on the trip. Or they're people who never use the humidifier anyway, and taking the humidifier off minimizes the space the machine takes up on the nightstand.

Re: Not using humidifier?...
There's no harm in removing the humidifer when not using it, or leaving it attached as Robysue said, just make sure you've got it turned off when it's attached.9forus wrote:When I travel on a one night stay I haven't been using my humidifier. it's *VERY* easy to attach and detach though, just press the big button on the back of the humidifier and slide them apart. I keep mine in the closet for when I might want to use it. (typically only if I have a cold or something... last time I used it was nearly two years ago.)
it's not disassembling, it's meant to come apart easily, in fact, to put it in the case for travel, you are supposed to take it apart, that way, there's no stress on the clips that hold the two halves together.

The Resmed S9 needs to be disassembled to be packed properly for traveling.palerider wrote: it's not disassembling, it's meant to come apart easily, in fact, to put it in the case for travel, you are supposed to take it apart, that way, there's no stress on the clips that hold the two halves together.
But the PR System One machines are designed to be packed in their travel bag fully assembled, but with no water in the chamber. And the OP has a PR machine.

Re: Not using humidifier?...
Yes, I have the PR machine. The travel bag is made to fit the whole assembled machine. I can't find anywhere in the booklet about having to remove the humidifier for travel, only to remove water.robysue wrote:The Resmed S9 needs to be disassembled to be packed properly for traveling.palerider wrote: it's not disassembling, it's meant to come apart easily, in fact, to put it in the case for travel, you are supposed to take it apart, that way, there's no stress on the clips that hold the two halves together.

Re: Not using humidifier?...
Won't harm anything to leave the humidifier attached and not turn it on. You could even use water in the tank and not turn the heat on if you wanted to...that's called passover humidity.
So you have multiple options available....attached but heat turned off with nothing in the humidifier tank...attached but off with water in the tank (passover)...or the humidifier can be totally removed but some people say their machine sounds louder/noisier with the humidifier disengaged. I have never tried it with the humidifier disengaged so I don't know about the noise thing.....no way could/would I ever go without my humidity....my nose would let me know real quick that is not something I want to happen.
