Attention Manufacturers! Changes we'd like in our equipment
I have ben on XPAP for 4 months and I can see some things that should be modified so as to improve useability.
Masks straps: Please make a combination mask strap and chin strap
Wifi: lets have our machines automatically load our nightly data to our computers or tablets via wifi
An alarm that alerts you if you have removed your mask in your sleep. Some nights
I wake and find the mask on the floor and its 4:00 AM and I've only logged an hour and a half of use time
An alarm clock built in. Too much clutter on my night stand
An option to have a cover on the on/off button. My cats turn my machine off more than I do some weeks
A pulse oxygen reader which can be read by your machine and incorporated into the data graphs
Please post what you feel manufactures should change or add to our machines/masks which would make it more user friendly ...
Maybe our host (CPAP.com) can forward the results to a manufacturer's sales rep .....

Philips machines can have mask remove alarms. F&P icon has wake up alarm.

Probably the most compact humidifier machine combo there is.

Not sure we will see WiFi on next generation of machines. Manufacturers do not allow access to their software and lock us out of clinician settings. Seems to me they do not want us accessing our data.

Day_Dreamer, love the list, especially the wifi option. I hate having to pull out my data card and bring it downstairs to my computer to analyze the data. Half the time I forget to pull it out and bring it back upstairs so I end up having to walk up and down the two flights of stairs at night when it's bedtime. I guess the exercise doesn't hurt (and helps to put a few more steps on my pedometer) but in this day and age the technology exists to make life easier. That said, I don't think wifi will happen anytime soon since presumably we the patients shouldn't be analyzing our own data. Call me cynical but I get the sense that some of the sleep doctors out there prefer we be kept in the dark. Making the data readily available goes counter to that. The folks on this board are unique in that we have taken a decidedly proactive approach in managing our sleep apnea therapy. I'm thinking the majority of folks aren't aware the data is available to them, or simply do not feel the need to know.Day_Dreamer wrote:I have ben on XPAP for 4 months and I can see some things that should be modified so as to improve useability.

My biggest struggles are around mask leakage with my nasal pillows and tube management. I've address the latter and figuring out the best way to handle the former. Too bad there isn't a 'wifi' type option of getting that airflow into our mouths without a mask

Sounds like you guys want:
http://www.eyefi.com/ or other manufacturer wifi card.

You can do this with the Aloha nasal pillows and the bottom half of the Halo chin strap. There are extra slits in the Aloha head gear that you can use for the straps of the Halo.Day_Dreamer wrote:I have ben on XPAP for 4 months and I can see some things that should be modified so as to improve useability.

Have you gotten such a card to work in your S9?

No. Never tried a wifi enabled sd card. I imagine it would be 'harder' in the S9 than S1 as S9 is more picky about sd cards, but probably doable. Personally don't like adding yet another always on radio to local airwaves but you could probably set the card to come on with a timer for a certain period only hopefully, or just power down machine of course. The Latinist wrote:Have you gotten such a card to work in your S9?

The reason I asked is because you posted with such apparent confidence in your solution. The fact is that those cards simply don't work for transferring anything but pictures and videos.Overflow wrote:No. Never tried a wifi enabled sd card.

Hmm yes I assumed these could be connected via ad hoc like any other wifi device. Maybe they can't.
Ok seems this type definitely can:

Others can do ad hoc but sound limited by types of file they share from brief read.

PR offers BlueTooth module for communicating with SleepMapper... I wonder if it would talk to SleepyHead too?bavinck wrote:Not sure we will see WiFi on next generation of machines. Re: Attention Manufacturers! Changes we'd like in our equipment
I'd like to see a progressive exhale relief for APAPs. ie 8-11cm/h2o would have 1, 12-15cm exhale relief of 2-3, 15+cm 4-6. Something like that; adjustable for me. At my starting pressure; exhaling at the same pressure doesn't bother me, but when I get to the high end of my pressure range and have woken up for whatever reason it's a lot more difficult to exhale.
