Reasonable or Unreasonable?

Post by Monstrosity » Fri May 30, 2014 9:08 am

I know I've asked this in the past but where do you get your supplies?

I drive about 45 minutes to the Cleveland Clinic home care office and can also order supplies over the phone from them. However... For over a year now I call and more than half the time am sent to someones voice mail. I've asked questions they haven't been able to answer and I politely asked them to get the answer and call me back. Guess what no call back... The last time I went to get fitted for a mask I was told I couldn't try it on due to concern about germs/disease's. I called back a week later to order a mask and they said I needed to come back to be fitted??? The most frustrating part was the beginning. They provided me a machine and the doctors office sent the order for my pressure to be adjusted. I called and called and called. They would tell me to call the doctors office and the doctors office would tell me to call them. Mind you this is all within the Cleveland Clinic. I called the supervisor and he back pedaled and did nothing but defend his office. I'm debating going somewhere else, perhaps closer to home. Am I being unreasonable? I'm curious to hear what your experiences are?

On top of it all I'm very frustrated with therapy as of recent. I'm not getting good sleep. I'm ripping my mask off at night. My wife is mad in the morning yelling at me for snoring. My headaches are coming back and the dryness is out of control. I keep debating making an apt to see a surgeon but am fearful of what would need to be done to correct my obstruction. Thanks for listening!

Not unreasonable. Go somewhere else.

I'm also sorry to hear that you have to wake up to someone yelling at you while you are going through issues. Fortunately I have not had to deal with either of those issues.

Changing the pressure is dead simple. There are manuals on line.

Assuming you have a machine which keeps data you can download software called Sleepyhead and look at your data. Post it here and someone will help you understand it.

I get my supplies through the Mayo Clinic Store in Rochester MN but I haven't had a lot of dealing with them yet as I've only been on cpap since Feb. 3. They're about a 5-minute drive depending on traffic. They didn't give me a lot of information when I got the machine, just told me how to run the machine, gave me a mask and showed me how to put it on, etc. After that I was on my own. They told me nothing about comfort items like mask liners. They are wonderful when I phone with questions, etc. I'm going to stick with them as otherwise I will have to deal with Apria, Lincare, and others... they are affiliated only with Mayo and I prefer not to deal with the others, though I have ordered a few things from cpap.com for better prices.

But no, it's not unreasonable to go elsewhere if you're no longer satisfied with them.

I think I'm done with them. Now I just need to find a local place.

She doesn't always yell at me but this morning struck a nerve.

I figured that out down the road but at first I was clueless.

I would like to look at my data. I might look into how to do that.

If you are having issues, looking at the data might give you insight into what is happening. Trying to fix something without having the information as to what is really happening can be very frustrating. "one doesn't just walk into Mordor"

I use the Cleveland Clinic Doctors, but have never used there DME part. I main local supplier is Community Surgical Supply
they have local office in Maple Heights; not sure where in NE OH you are at. I have had pretty good luck with them.

I wish you well

If you don't already have a copy of your doctor's prescription, then your first step will be to get it from your doctor. They have to supply it by law. You will need it in order to buy supplies elsewhere.
I'm workin' on it.
