Need to make a change to my therapy!

Post by DAG » Mon May 26, 2014 11:33 am

On the 'inspiration' cycle, it seems like it wants to give me just a bit too much air. I would like to lower that. Can anyone tell me which function I would do that on on my machine? Thanks!

On what do you base your belief that your pressure is too high? It is not really possible to tell what pressure is appropriate for you just by feel. Have you tried looking at your data?

What are your current pressure settings?
IPAP (that's the inspiration higher pressure)
EPAP
PS Pressure support or difference between EPAP and IPAP.
Fixed mode or auto adjusting mode?

Decreasing IPAP may not resolve your issues...it all depends on what PS is and what EPAP is.

Reply,

You may want to try a smaller volume kind of mask instead of the Fisher & Paykel's. The #432 mask is a large full face mask covering lots of dead space and also using lots of air- flow thru the intentional vet holes. Any of the smaller nasal masks could answer your question.

Three year ago I wasted almost a year of treatment when using those F& P #431 and #432 masks b/c of hi leaks around the masks. The below the chin wrap gave me only false illusion b/c it does not seal like Resmed's superior technology of double flap cushion masks.
