Compliance Question

I've been using a CPAP for a little over 4 years but havent thought much about compliance because I dont see the MD who prescribed my CPAP much. I have used the machine pretty much everytime I go to sleep with the rare exception of the time I forgot to put it in the travel trailer before we left town. My S8 crapped out last weekend so while I was looking online for info on the error code I found this site. I was given a new S9 last week and have used it everytime. Because of reading this site I have the Resmed software and I have been watching the compliance info on the S9 screen. Now my question, as a Research Nurse, my schedule can be unpredictable. Some weeks I end up working three 12 hour night shifts in a row, otherwise I work mon-fri day shift. I recieved the S9 last week on wednesday and when I looked at the info menu on monday morning it was showing 5/5 for compliance >4 hours/night and average of 7.2 hours per usage. Well I went in to work monday evening at 730pm and got home tuesday morning at 8:00am. I put the CPAP on and slept for about 6.5 hours with one mid-sleep pee break (caffiene to stay awake pays me back at home). When I woke up this afternoon the compliance show 6/8 for >4 hours and average use dropped to 6.1 hours. The total # of hour used is still correct. I ampretty much scheduled to work the three 12 hour shifts every other week for the next 2 months so is my compliance going to be shot and how does that affect insurance reimbursment? Sorry that was lengthy, thanks again for all the great info I have gotter here.

The S9 machines start a new session at 12 noon. Don't worry...it will all even itself out as you add more to the session that started at noon in the coming night. The short hours after the new session started will have the coming evening hours added to it so that total usage for the session will meet compliance. Example...you slept until 2 pm today...that's 2 hours in the new session and it isn't 4 hours..so it won't show as meeting compliance right now but tomorrow once you get tonight's hours added to the 2 hours you will meet the compliance requirements assuming you sleep an additional at least 2 hours within today's session.
Compliance is usually at least 4 hours for 70% of 30 nights. Check with your insurance company to make sure though.
