replacing Humidifier tank
replacing Humidifier tank
My DME stated that I could un my insurance replace my tank on my ResMed S9 every six months. Does any one know why this would need to be done other than damage?

Re: replacing Humidifier tank
Probably for sanitation reasons. Also, if the tank is heated and made of plastic, many plastics do degrade over time.

Its a good idea to keep one in stock in case something happens. If the worse can happen it will.

Remember also that just because the medicare/insurance schedule says you can, that doesn't mean that you have to if you don't need one yet. As the previous poster mentioned, it's good to have an extra for backup... in fact it's good to have backup mask and tubing too, but all in good time... don't need to do it right away.

Now using AirFit F10 mask; Quattro Air is backup mask. RemZzzz mask liners with both.

For the S9, try to get the "dishwashable" tank. To me, it's worth it, even if you have to pay for it yourself by buying online. Look on cpap.com for info and cost.utrocks84 wrote:My DME stated that I could un my insurance replace my tank on my ResMed S9 every six months. Get at least one extra tank for use as a spare. You can also put one on the shelf and then swap them once a week or less frequently, and let the unused one dry out very thorougly to help control germ growth.
