Resmed S9 set from CPAP to APAP

Post by ladyjanern » Wed Apr 30, 2014 9:52 am

My pressure is set at 9 and I am not feeling rested when I wake up in the morning. I will often take mask off (nasal pillows) after just a few (3-4) hours of sleep and go without for the rest of the night as nostril and head can't take the air pressure directly into my nose. I don't wake up refreshed and spend most of day with decreased energy.

I thought a range of pressures to accomadate the different breathing patterns would be more benifical.. maybe like a range of 7-10.
So my question is: how would I change the pressure on the machine to be a range of pressure vs same pressure.

tks

What do your existing downloaded reports look like?

You have to know WHY you're changing pressures before you do it.
Maybe you're losing too much therapy air out your mouth during the night.......and that may be why you're not feeling refreshed.

Above link explains how to make changes with pictures. There's also a little video you can watch down near the bottom of the page.

You won't stand a chance of feeling rested with only 4 or 5 hours of sleep with the machine. It's hard enough to feel better with 7 or 8 hours of optimal therapy.
You need to use the software available (check the links in my signature line) to make sure therapy is at least optimal.
So you need to understand what you are seeing and then decide on what changes might or might not help.
You may need a different mask if you can't tolerate your existing mask for whatever reason.
You may need to change humidity settings.

Again 4 or 5 hours with the machine and the rest of the night without it...you won't ever feel better.
