Nasal pillow question
I just got the Airfit pillows and have tried them for about 3 nights. I had to go back to my nasal mask last night. Has anyone else experienced a feeling of being short if air using them, or any other nasal pillows? I felt like I was ok then I would be so short on air I would have to open my mouth to suck enough air. Is this common for nasal pillows? I use a pressure of 10

You might need to go up a size.

Try a pressure of 10.5 for awhile and see if you feel more air. If you use a ramp, turn it off.

Re: Nasal pillow question
I think I've got the right size pillow. I turned the ramp off the 3rd day I had the machine, never did like it. I had considered turning the pressure up. I had thought about going to 11 for a couple of nights and then backing it off .2 a night after until I got back to 10. I was just curious if this was a common thing. With the S9, I've made sure to change the "mask type" accordingly, but what does it change anyhow?
Re: Nasal pillow question
Mask type choice on the S9 affects the generic vent rate that gets subtracted prior to reporting the leak numbers.Jasonlboyd wrote:I've made sure to change the "mask type" accordingly, but what does it change anyhow?
That's all it does. It does not alter pressure in any way.

Re: Nasal pillow question
I also have had trouble with the air fit pillows feeling like I can't get enough air. It was surprising because my regular mask was Swift Fx also by Resmed and I used the same size pillows. I tried larger ones but they didn't fit. However, I noticed that once my breathing got quiet and shallow enough the problem passed. I have adjusted to it because I like the masks lightness and quietness. When I first get into bed I leave the mask plugged into the cpap machine but not in my nose until I have settled myself and my blankets and my breath has quieted down. Then I put the pillows into my nostrils and start the machine. This seems to help. If I raise my pressure (which is only about 6) I start getting more central apneas so I try and just stay where I am.
Hope that helps.
