Traveling with APAP - Suggestions (TIP)

Post by TPS316 » Wed Apr 09, 2014 5:34 pm

Just a FYI. I am not sure if I am the only one with this issue but the last several times I took my APAP on a flight the air freshener that you really do not notices really contaminates the hose. Bad enough where it takes quite a bit a rinsing and airing it out. Now I always place the hose and mask in sealed zip lock bags that are then wrapped in an additional plastic bad. This seems to work good for me.

The overhead bins in the aircraft. Just having the machine in its case absorbs this stuff. Then you have a very unpleasant surprise when you take the 1st inhale at night. It takes a lot of effort to get this smell out. Bot while flying Delta airlines.

That's odd. I've never noticed that. But every time I travel and strap on, I'm greeted with a concentrated rush of air that smells like the last hotel room I stayed in. It takes most of a night to lose the stench.

I very seldom fly Delta.
I don't have a problem with Delta.
It is just that where I fly from & to pretty much keeps me from flying Delta & having to go to its hub (way out of the way).

Regardless, I also have never noticed that & I always put my machine in the bins as opposed to under the seat in front of me.

Like you, the smell I smell is the last hotel room.

Since I travel with a dedicated travel machine, I just run it for a few hours after I get home to remove that smell. If the smell is really intense OR if I am close to needing a filter replacement anyway, I will also go ahead & replace the filter.
