Buying a new Autopap machine

Post by christo » Sun Apr 06, 2014 5:56 pm

Hi everybody,

I am looking at purchasing a machine to combat my sleep apnea. I have a prescription for Autopap. Before going to the sales person, I would like to input from here. I am looking at

The ResMed S8 Auto 25 and the ResMed S9 AutoSet. What's important to me is

- That the noise the machine makes is low so it does not wake me up;
- That I can read the AHI and AI it calculates every night just like the ResMed Elite II;
- That the "Auto" can be turned-off and used like a regular CPAP machine;
- That I can use the same tube and Mask I used with the ResMed Elite II;
- That as a CPAP, I can set the pressure in CLINICAL mode just like I could do with the ResMed Elite II;
- That I can use it in Europe and North America;
- That the experience other people have had with the machine is positive.

Any input would be appreciated.

Thanks,
Christo

S8 is old; S9 is new, with many improvements.

Yes, the ResMed S9 AutoSet meets and exceeds all your requirements, I wouldn't even consider an S8 at this point in time.

Hi Christo;

To answer your questions, and only considering the S9 AutoSet

- That the noise the machine makes is low so it does not wake me up;
- very quite, some people hear a very quiet bird chirp on exhale.
- That I can read the AHI and AI it calculates every night just like the ResMed Elite II;
- AHI is displayed in the display at the touch of a button
- That the "Auto" can be turned-off and used like a regular CPAP machine;
- in the Clinicians menu this option is settable.
- That I can use the same tube and Mask I used with the ResMed Elite II;
- I am not sure. I was under the impression that the tubes and masks were compatible
- That as a CPAP, I can set the pressure in CLINICAL mode just like I could do with the ResMed Elite II;
- Yes
- That I can use it in Europe and North America;
- With the proper plug adapter, yes
- That the experience other people have had with the machine is positive.
- I've had mine for 2 years, I average 9 hours a night and have no complaints.

Christo,

You're on the right path: S9 Autoset all the way.
