Quattro Air
Quattro Air
I'm looking for input from those that have used the different Resmed/Quattro flavors vs. the Air. I've tried nearly every single FFM on the planet and they all leak. I've had the most luck with the Quattro FX but it still leaks, especially when my face is too dry. I basically have to tighten the hell out of it and/or lather my face up with thick lotion to get the seal to stick. My main problem is that my chin is slightly receding, and the masks are all shaped for a "normal" jawline. And none of the FFMs have the great silicon that the Activa uses (please, Resmed, please use the Activa silicon in a FFM!).
Has anyone had more success with the Air compared to the FX, original Quattro, or UMFF?
I did a search and found 2 review threads which were a bit informative.
thanks!

Re: Quattro Air
It works the best of any Quattro FFM my wife has tried.

Re: Quattro Air
The Quatro FX mask did seem like a good mask to me at first. As time went on I began having problems with the cushion separating from the frame of the mask. One thing I love about the Quattro Air mask is that the frame is one size in any of the cushion sizes can be placed within the frame. The cushion is permanently adhered to a hard plastic cup that becomes part of the frame of the mask. Each one of our faces is shaped differently. I was lucky enough that the Quattro Air works well for me. I would say 50% of the people find it works well, and the other 50% feel that it leaks too much. If your DME has a good mask exchange policy I would try it, it may be good for you. If you're buying out-of-pocket it appears that our host CPAP.com still offers free mask return insurance on the Quattro Air. For me it is either this mask or the Mirage Quatro mask.
Everyone handles CPAP therapy differently. I choose to accept a certain amount of leaks with my mask. As they exceed 25 I begin to get curious about reducing leaks. I believe that a goal to keep leaks at zero is unrealistic.
Good luck with your decision.

Re: Quattro Air
I've said it before--the Quattro Air for Her has worked beautifully for me so far. It's much lighter than the Quattro and smaller for a female's face.
Re: Quattro Air
I have a small quattro air you can try if you want. I don't think i will be using it again. only 1 month old but used for only about 2 weeks.
Re: Quattro Air
Thanks for the info everyone.
The problem is that leaks wake me up - especially the ones that shoot me in the eye. I have become a lighter sleeper with cpap.STL Mark wrote:I believe that a goal to keep leaks at zero is unrealistic.

Re: Quattro Air
I tried the Air ... for about a week, more leaks in the eyes, than my Mirage Quattro ... I sold the Air!
It is lighter weight than the Mirage, and I never had any problems with the headgear to mask connections, even though when I first got it, they looked wimpy, and figured the top would fall off in the night, no problems with that at all!

Re: Quattro Air
I've been using the Quattro Air successfully since Oct last yr. There are some leaks around the mouth at times but nothing significant. I use a cloth eye mask to catch any leaks by my eyes. A cloth mask will work well with the Quattro headgear since it's not as thick as most other types of sleep masks. Out of all the FF masks I've tried, this has been the most successful method for me.

Re: Quattro Air
Quattro FX --- it moved all over my face every time I tossed and turned and leaks erupted. I gave up on it after 2 weeks
Quattro FFM -- Little or no leaks from day one. I've been using it for more than a year.
Quattro AIR -- I bought it when it came out...large sleep depriving leaks near my cheeks....I tried the medium and large sizes AND added padacheek.... sent it back. Nice mask but not for me
hope that helps
