kudos to each and everyone of you on this board. I've been on this board for a year now and I must say that the knowledge and consideration of the people on this board is beyond awesome. Everyone truly has a passion to help out his brother/sister CPAP user. My doctor told me that boards like this are the best way to get the information we need because there is no way that she could know all of the information that gets posted here. You can all be proud of yourself for the help that you have given to each other. I would like to personally thank all of you because it would have been impossible to get the information that's on this board from anyplace else. To all the newbies on the board don't be afraid to ask any question even if you think that it's a stupid question as there is no such thing.
Again, just wanted to give kudos to all of you. God bless to all!!!!

And kudos to you for finding a great doctor. Most of them pooh-pooh the idea of us searching for info on the 'net and tell us not to do that (not that THEY or the DME gives us the info we need, mind you). Good job.billgamble wrote:kudos to each and everyone of you on this board. The nurse of my general practitioner gave me this website address. Reminds me... I need to thank her...

After having a mysterious pain on the left side of my mouth that my dentist said was not due to cavities or decay, I found some great information the in the archives about possibly needing a mouth guard due to bruxism. Need to do some more investigating but I am always amazed at how much valuable information is on this forum that can get one pointed in the right direction.

This happened to me about a year ago as well, thought I was headed for a mouthguard/nightguard once I figured out the reason for the extra teeth sensitivity. And correlated it to when I started cpap and the effort to keep leaks down.49er wrote:After having a mysterious pain on the left side of my mouth that my dentist said was not due to cavities or decay, I found some great information the in the archives about possibly needing a mouth guard due to bruxism. Anyways, since I'd never had this problem before cpap decided to try focusing on keeping my teeth apart during my waking hours to see if that would translate into not clenching my jaw at night. This actually has worked for me. The sensitivity is pretty much gone, and it was really bad. And now I tend to notice when I put my teeth together, during the day, it doesn't feel right, so I auto-correct.
At any rate, something to try. Did the same thing with keeping my tongue on the roof of my mouth *smile*, just focused on it during the day, and seems to help at night. However, now that I have two things to focus on I'm having trouble chewing gum as well *smile*...actually, after while you stop having to be conscious about these things and just check in once in a while to see where things are *smile*.
Or, if a nightguard doesn't bother you, then go for it. I really don't like the thought of more gear at night, so this was something to try before going with more stuff.
Edit: Bill Gamble? Although there are probably a few hundred of you out there, just wondering it you went to University of Michigan back in the late 60's? It would be an incredible coincidence, but great to reconnect if it's the same one. Just curious.
