Encore Pro 2.xx install

I recently received Encore Pro and am having difficulty installing it on my Windows 8.1 computer. I am fairly intelligent about computers having worked in the field for 40 some years but can't seem to figure out whats wrong. Has anyone out there been able to install it on a similar system and if so what did you have to do?

I have not heard of one person being successful with Pro 2.12 and Windows 8.1.
It's probably a conflict with the installer.
Pro 2.12 was released prior to Windows 8.1. It will install on Windows 8.0. Eventually a newer version will likely be compatible with Windows 8.1.
There is no way to do the work around trick that we can use with the other Encore versions and bypass the installer because Pro uses the SQL server database thing. SQL doesn't do well with the copy of the installed program thing unless I am missing something.

If anyone has had success with Pro 2.12 and Windows 8.1...speak up. I have had nothing but failed installs reported from 8.1 users that I remember.

In this instance ...this OP needs Pro 2.12 because he has a PR S1 960 machine...and as of now that is the only version that will work with that machine.

I have the BiPAP AutoSV Advanced 950P and here's what I did to use Encore Basic and Encore Pro in Windows 8.1. I installed VMware Player which allowed me to create a virtual machine under W8.1. I then installed my old OS disk of XP Pro in this virtual machine, and installed Encore Basic and Encore Pro in XP Pro. VMware Player is free for non-commercial use. I know this sounds complicated, but VMware Player guides you every step along the way. So, each morning I start up XP Pro in the virtual machine and download my SD card data.

I installed Microsoft SQL Express 2012 from the Microsoft downloads and then did an advanced setup and bypassed the SQL install in pro and it seems to be working on Windows 8.0 and 8.1 so far.

I'll try this tonight and if it works it may be a workaround for the Encore Pro Win 8.1 install that we can use when needed.

If it works...when you have time can you get me a cheat sheet with the steps involved so I can pass it along if needed or have a thread we can link to with step by steps "how to"..
Think in terms of computer novice cheat sheet though...step by step.
Most people getting and using Pro won't even know what you mean by "advanced setup". They don't/won't know about custom installs.

In my opinion it's way too difficult for the normal user to deal with. Unless Ubnoxus can give us a simplified set of instructions to get it working we'll have to consider it unworkable.

My computer died last week and I had to get a new one which has Windows 8.1 on it. I was wondering if I could download Encore Basic on it and I saw this discussion about the Pro version. Does anyone know where I can get Encore Basic and if it will work in 8.1? Thanks much!

Maybe I just got lucky and planets were perfectly aligned to get it installed. When I get back home on Thursday I will sit down on my wife's laptop and try another computer and write down a step by step list and see if it will work again.
