Encore Pro on Mac for Remstar BiPAP AutoSV?

Hi,
I'm trying to get back to personally analyzing my sleep info but I need some advice...

I use an older RemStar BiPAP AutoSV model # 1040716. I also have Encore Pro software from 2005, version 1.4i, Rev.4.
I used to use this software on a pc laptop to check the data on my previous machine, a RemStar AutoPAP.
I have a Mac and no longer have the pc.
I understand I can now use Windows on my Mac using either Parallels, or Boot Camp.
So, I should be able to use Encore Pro on my Mac to check my machine's data, if I add Windows to my computer...?
This would be preferable to buying a separate pc computer just for my sleep info.

The questions I have are:

1. From what I've gleaned from the forum I need a certain version of Microsoft Windows, such as XP, to use Encore Pro. But XP is being discontinued...can I still buy a copy that will work with my computer? It seems like they are made for specific pc brands, such as Dell...?

2. Will my older version of Encore Pro work with my current machine, or do I need to upgrade to Encore Pro 2?

I don't know if your current old Encore version will work or not with your machine...I suspect it would but finding a Windows version that would allow the install might be difficult. I don't know if it works on anything newer than XP. That version is older than the first version that I used back in 2009 which was 1.8 and on Vista.

I don't know if the latest Encore Pro 2.12 will support your machine...it will install on Windows 8.0 or older..not sure how old as I would need to open it and try to find specs. Rumor control about 18 months ago (I saw a memo about supporting the old machines) was they were phasing out having Encore Pro support the Smart card machines like your Legacy series machine. I don't know if they have implemented that rumor or not with this latest version of Pro.

EncoreBasic would likely be the best choice and I am reasonably certain that it would work with your machine. I know other Legacy series machine users who are using it.
It is compatible with Windows 7 or older in terms of install.
I know a way to make it work on Win 8.xxx if we bypass the installer.

If you can get Windows 7 on your Mac...we can use EncoreBasic which would be the simplest of the 2 software options and the reports are identical. You gain nothing over Basic if going with Pro but headaches. Basic is so much easier to install and manage. Install failure rates are maybe 1 out of 100...with Pro it's about 1 out of 5.

I'll work on getting Windows 7 and then EncoreBasic...

Are all Windows 7 the same, or do I need to avoid certain Brand specific versions?

I don't study Windows enough to know the differences with the versions.
I am using Windows 7 Home Premium on this laptop and it doesn't lack anything that I would need.
