1 Year Check-In Question(s)

Post by ldobler74 » Mon Mar 10, 2014 12:32 pm

All -

So it's been a year and i'm still having a hell of a time with CPAP. I've tried tons of different masks and i seem to yank the bastards off each time i try to use. The best I can get is 3.5-4.5 hours a night of treatment before I yank it off. Needless to say this is not creating a positive feedback loops since I don't even remember doing it

I'm starting to think that maybe it is the machine? Not the mask? I have an ICON Auto and I'm starting to think that I should try and harass my medical provider to switch it out to a Resmed S9 for the exhale relief as well as a different breathing algorithm. Or maybe I need to do another sleep study? Who knows.

Anyway, just wanted to get feedback and see if anyone has any suggestions? I'm not even close to giving up yet, but since I've round robin'd all of these masks the next thing that makes sense to me is the machine.

Thanks in advance!!

Have you tried putting a bit of tape over the straps that are on your face so that when you attempt to remove the mask in the middle of the night that the temporary minor discomfort of the pulling of the tape might wake you up so that you can stop the unwanted behavior?

have your vitamin D3 levels checked (see The Vitamin D Counsel for assay details) and correct if below 50

next time with your doctor bring up the issues of "high respiratory control system gain" and "long term potentiated over breathing" as it concerns CPAP use

pursue metabolic health
