HELP: Using the Nasal Aire with the PR 1 60 heated hose??

Post by mellabella » Sun Mar 09, 2014 11:17 am

I'd like to be able to rotate back in my Nasal Aire mask on certain nights, but have found that (unlike the Hybrid or the FX) the plastic connecting port on it falls right out of the end of the heated hose--which isn't the same grippy funnel on a standard non-heated hose. I actually had to forfeit the heated hose entirely last night to do it. Is there some sort of adapter or other hack I can try?

Related: the heated hose hadn't seemed to be working all that well after the first few weeks, and the regular tube was as much or more effective last night. I tried to email CPAP.com about it (the vendor) but just got back, so far, a pointer about using the correct power pack--which I have been doing since day 1 (and the hose was working effectively when it was very first purchased in January.)

I saw your posting and wanted to comment although I don't know if it is a solution for you. I have been using a Remstar System one Auto a-flex for a year now. I have never been able to gt the humidifier to work right. No matter what they suggest as a solution the variable performance causes me to wake up every 3 to hours. On rare occasion it seems to perform well and I get 6 hours sleep.
At this point I am seriously considering ditching this humidifier. I might have to get a completely new machine but it would be worth solving the problem.
Good luck.

The heated hose temperature selection on the top of the blower machine is dependent on the ambient room temperature.
If bedroom are cooler it is going to be harder for the heated hose to warm up the air that is delivered.
The humidity to be delivered selection is strictly in the clinical setup menu...that knob on time of the blower unit only alters temperature of the air when the heated hose is plugged in.
If the air doesn't seem to be warming at all...check the connections closely especially the electric connection inside the lid to the humidifier. That's a tiny connection that might have come loose.

I had a similar issue with my S9 heated hose and my Tap Pap mask...the hose connections were a bit loose and I had to really cram the short hose into the heated hose to get it to stick.
I may have a Nasal Air II to check to see if maybe an adapter is needed to get it to stick better. I will look later to see what might work. Got a bit of a stomach bug at the moment so don't feel like sorting through the bin with all the extra cpap stuff in in. I don't remember if there is maybe something on the short hose with the Nasal Aire that might have fell off or something or if it just is too small in general. I will let you know if I find the mask to test the connection to heated hose on the PR S1.
