Hello to All
Newbie here, I apologize if this has been ask before, anyway I have a question on how best to travel via airplane (time will be between 2-3 hrs). The real question I have is: Is it best to just carry-on the C-PAP machine or can I just put it in my suitcase?
I'm virtually new at all this stuff.

The general consensus is never send your machine through baggage, always take it as a carry-on. CPAP machines are medical devices and as such they do not count toward your carry-on limit.

Your cpap case is a free carry on, at least in the US. Never let it out of your sight.

I always carry all of my CPAP equipment on the plane... until my last trip. I carried my machine on the plane but packed my hose and head gear in my suitcase. I got to my destination only to discover TSA had tossed my luggage, hose and head gear were intact but the nasal pillows were gone. It was a 3 day business trip, I have not missed a night off the machine since diagnosed 18 months ago, that was a miserable trip. Lesson learned.

what is meant by free carry on is
a medical device or medicine does not count towards your carry on
i cant post a link but 20 20 just did a story on airline luggage
a baggage handler said most people think we care
big mistake

Most airline/TSA folks recognize CPAP cases now, but here's an ID tag you can d/l, print and laminate if you wish.

You can also buy a plastic tag that says it is Medical equipment and explains it is for CPAP, I think I got mine from http://www.cpap dot com relatively inexpensive and very quick shipping. You can just do a google search for medical equipment luggage tags. Don't check it, if they lose it like they lose suitcases, or put it on the wrong flight, you will be without it until you replace it or they find it. Take a copy of your mask prescription with you, just in case it breaks and you might need to replace it.

the medical baggage tags are nice to have but
are by no means required for the free carry on
name & contact info should be on & in all pieces of luggage
