Hi,
Has anyone sold their old sleep device?
I was recently [unfortunately] upgraded to ResMed VPAP IPAP ST-A model due the increased severity of sleep apnea.
I was earlier using Resmed VPAP Adapt SV (http://www.resmed.com/us/products/vpap_ ... pt-sv.html) which I no longer need. It is fully functional.
I got rid of used working ResMed CPAP device that I had before having to use Adapt SV VPAP device.
Now I am wondering if I could sell Adapt SV to someone who might need it (?). I have never sold such device previously.
Questions:
1. Is this safe/OK to sell such used medical device? It's about 5 years old, but functions well.
2. Where do people recommend selling such device (e.g. ebay)?
I know it's medical device and specially breathing device, so just want to make sure it's safe to sell such device (avoid any type of lawsuits, etc. later by purchaser, etc.).
Any guidance would be appreciated.
Thanks!

EBay doesn't allow the sale of cpap machines because they require a RX. You you might as well not list it there. The EBay police will pull the listing as soon as someone tells on you. Usually takes about a day or so.
Like who in their right mind would buy one of these machines if they didn't need it.
Craigslist is where most people sell their unwanted machines.
Do you happen to have the card reader that was needed with that model machine to be able to use the ResScan software?
You might find someone here on the forum looking for a backup machine like yours but forum members are notoriously big tight wads and want to pay bargain basement prices.
If you have used it for 5 years then it likely has high hours of use...another drawback besides the discontinued model drawback which affects its value especially to forum members.
So you as a private party can do with it whatever you wish. You can sell it and not worry about the CPAP police knocking on your door in the middle of the night. Someone wanting that high end special machine will know what to do with it.
It would make a good second machine for travel or emergency back up if priced well for someone who already uses that type of machine.

Yea requires Rx so technically you can't sell it to a person unless they have a prescription to purchase it and you have a license to sell it. I think that's the way it works. But that's not to say you can't list it on Craig's list and very possibly sell it. I could be wrong, this is just my thoughts. I couldn't even purchase a sleep belt without a prescription. You might talk to a DME as they could legally buy it.

Of course, outside of the big sales sites, there is apparently a severe shortage of "authorities"
interested in preventing the private sale of used equipment between individuals.
Less control is on local Craig's lists, and some informal local "tradio" shows.
If, perchance, you get "busted", don't mention us!
If you decide to donate the machine, do NOT give it to Goodwill--they will destroy it!
