Odd actions!

Post by NoSleep4Nana » Mon Feb 24, 2014 10:33 am

I am having problems keeping my mask on at night. I take it off with no memory of doing so. Last night it came off with my mask ending up in the bed disconnected from my hose and my machine still on. I do not know what to do. I want to be compliant but subconsciously I can't. Has anyone had any problems like this before that can give me ideas to try?

Common problem.
Put some tape over the straps in a couple of places where the straps touch the skin on your face so that the discomfort from the tape pulling on your skin will wake you up so you can stop the unwanted behavior.
Eventually your brain will learn to leave the mask alone. Right now the brain thinks the mask is something it wants to get rid of.

One way to meet your compliancy is to watch TV a couple of hours before you go to bed. Hopefully, the TV isn't in the bedroom. If it is, give serious thought to putting it somewhere else.

Social security required me to use the machine more than 4 hours a night for the first 30 days to be compliant, or they would have it taken back. They didn't have a clue I sat it front of the TV. After a week or so, I decided to wear the mask to sleep with, and, for me, the above seemed to do the trick.

Seriously, watching TV isn't really "cheating".
You are acclimating yourself to wearing the mask---practice.
