Mouth breathing, especially with PAP, creates the dry mouth which leads to higher levels of bacteria in the mouth infecting the gums. I've done everything to control the mouth breathing and oral hygiene. By oral hygiene, I mean a complete regime of flossing multiple times a day, Gel-Cam & Pro-Health toothpaste, picks, dental cleanings every 3-4 months, and BreathRx mouthwash. Even with all of this, I still battle a few days of gum bleeding should I miss an area. Oh, and did I mention, that my diet is devoid of processed sweets?

First have your dentist inspect your mouth, then have a cleaning. Usually dental hygienist can steer you to products and a personalized program to maintain your gums. I don't know how old you are, but once we hit middle age, gum recession even requiring surgery can occur. Gum disease is the leading cause of why some end of with dentures. That's why I'm basically over the top with dental care!

For me, wearing a cervical collar has propped up my jaw and avoided mouth breathing. Others have used a chin strap or full face masks. When I have a cold I turn the humidity up. What are your humidity settings in this cold winter with the drying indoor heat?
