System One 60 Loud on Inhale
System One 60 Loud on Inhale
System One 60 has been very loud when inhaling recently . Trying to pinpoint the problem and can't. I know the air intake can get a loud gasping for air sound even when using OEM filters, but I don't think this is the cause of the almost unbearable noise created while inhaling . Anyone know what could be causing this ? Using a Quattro fx w pad a cheek. Thanks.

Mask sound with a more pleasant sound, I use nature sounds, wind, rain ect. Jim

Re: System One 60 Loud on Inhale
When machines that normally make a so and so sound change and start making a louder and different sound that is more annoying....something has changed.
It's hard to know what changed though.
If under warranty still...I would be notifying whomever I got the machine from if that was possible..
In case what changed was inside the machine and I could get it fixed under warranty.
My PR S1 makes some noise on inhale...every Respironics machine I have ever owned makes a little noise on inhale.
ResMed makes a little noise on exhale.
It's when the noise level changes from what we have been having that it becomes a problem.
So if nothing in your routine has changed..no mask change, or routing the hose change...or anything else that might affect sound...look at the machine as changing.

Have you changed any of your filters?

My machine started making a loud sound when I put in the new cheap paper filters that Crapria now supplies.

I also use a Quattro FX with the PRS1, and have noticed the significant noise on inhaling. Tried several things to reduce it without luck.

Re: System One 60 Loud on Inhale
I used backup machine (pr sys one 550) last night .Same mask . Same hose . Same filters . No problem whatsoever. I noticed on the System Ones , the filters have to be perfectly placed even when new ,or it will make a louder sucking air noise. My problem with the loud noise while inhaling is not related to the filters in any way . I will return machine in the morning.
Re: System One 60 Loud on Inhale
Has your machine been dropped? My System One 60 got significantly louder after I dropped it, enough so that my wife commented on the difference. A few weeks later our new Pup ate part of my head gear and while he was chewing the hose up pulled the machine down, following the second incident the machine is back to it's quiet self. Though the apparent misalignment of something internally with my machine caused by the first impact was reversed by a second impact, dropping one of these machines in an attempt to cure a high noise level is absolutely NOT recommended, they're too sophisticated for that kind of abuse.
Re: System One 60 Loud on Inhale
Mine has a similar problem. It has made that noise, when I inhale, since I got it, two month's ago. I recently had my followup with the sleep Dr. I complained to the RT about the noise, and she said it is due to the Auto feature (not buying that explanation). I even let her hear it, but she didn't pay any attention. She did give me a Osen nasal mask (to help with leaks) to try. It was significantly quieter (that was a surprise, as it seems to be coming from the machine rather than the mask). Unfortunately, the nasal mask cut into my nose, so I had to go back to the nasal pillow and the noise. Not sure this is at all helpful, but people on here keep telling my how quiet their System Ones are, so I would like to fix this issue, too.

Mine went loud after a few weeks. I sent it back to cpap.com, they tested it, confirmed it was defective and then sent a replacement. Excellent service.
