nose irritation

Post by sunrise » Fri Feb 07, 2014 9:55 am

Hi everyone I have a new gel nasal pillow mask and it is drying out my nose and feels sore any suggestions. BTW I love my nasal mask compared to my full mask. I think if they wouldn't have changed me to a nasal I would have never survived the cpap.

Get some Lansinoh lanolin ointment. Found in the baby aisle of most stores. Pure lanolin and nursing mom's use it for helping with sore nipples. Won't harm the silicone.
We use it to help with sore/tender nostrils.
Be care not to have the straps too tight though...that will really make the nostrils sore and if too tight cause abrasions.
Use it liberally during the day and tiny bit at night.

The dryness...might consider a little more moisture either in terms of increasing the humidifier setting and/or might also try just liberal use of something like Simply Saline to add moisture to the nasal mucosa.

Thanks for the input I like the nasal pillow much better than the full mask but I do not like the strap I had to rig up the strap so it doesn't move around this is definitely a trial and error process. thanks again.
