Airfit P10 Question..

Post by trytryagain » Wed Feb 05, 2014 10:24 am

I have been using the Pilairo for many months now and like it, except for the noise. The Q version is slightly better. I just ordered the Airfit P10 because the the rave reviews. My question is, I ordered the for her version. How different is it than the generic unisex style. My head is not so small and I have a lot of hair. Is the headgear smaller or just the color?

I don't know...with the Swift FX for her model the "For Her" had a shorter back strap when compared to the regular version.
I have personally put the two side by side to compare. There was a definite difference in the length of the back strap..but the silicone headgear appeared identical to me.

I have not seen the For Her and regular headgear in the AirFit P10 model side by side to compare.
I have not seen it mentioned anywhere in the reading material.

I imagine you will be fine..the "for Her" has a good bit of "give" to it and the positioning of the back strap allows for a lot of forgiveness in tension. It's a lot more forgiving than the Swift FX back strap.

Look at pages 11 & 12 of the User Guide.

There, it has some limited comparison of the components of both side by side.

The "For Her" does have a different Number for the Headgear, but that may solely be if it is a different color.

I have been considering "trying" the AirFit P10, but am reluctant to even try since I have NEVER used "pillows" in my 16 years on XPAP.

Under the "Important Tips" tab on cpap.com for the AirFit For Her Version, it states:

AirFit™ and AirFit™ For Her QuickFit™ Headgear Size: The only difference between the headgear used by theAirFit™ and AirFit™ For Her QuickFit™ is the color. The AirFit™ For Her headgear is pink and gray while the AirFit™ headgear is blue and gray. The two headgear are the same length, size and shape.

Thanks Stu....I didn't remember reading that little bit of information..if I even read it.
You know me...I do things and then read later (sometimes)

Well, the old saying is: If at 1st you don't succeed, read the directions.
I think we all do that.

I just remembered that information because I have been looking at the AirFit P10 rather intensely.

I know that 1 person's ideal mask could be a trainwreck for someone else.

But, do you think that someone like me that has used only Nasal masks for my entire 16 years on XPAP could get used to "pillows"?

I didn't think I would ever find a nasal mask that I could tolerate until I tried the Nano.
I started with the Swift LT nasal pillow (THE nasal pillow mask to have back when I was first starting therapy) and have never really used anything but a nasal pillow mask.
Over 4 years using nasal pillows before I found the Nano and my only other nasal mask trial was the Wisp.
You couldn't give me one of the others with a hard shell. No way was I going to buy one.

I don't know what to tell you. Some people find the air shooting up the nose to be disconcerting to say the least. I rather like but again it's really all I have ever known.
When I was trying the Nano just for fun...I thought the diffusing of the air flow was an odd sensation...felt like it was leaking around my nose all the time when it wasn't.

16 years is a long time and sometimes adjustments don't come easy. Our bodies like the familiar.

Sometimes I think newbies have an easier time than some of the cpap veterans because they are still in the stage where adjusting to anything is a bit easier. They haven't got stuck in their old ways yet. Change isn't so scarey to them.
