HoseBuddy rotation needs more resistance

Post by the block » Mon Feb 03, 2014 9:02 am

I got a HoseBuddy because I don't have a headboard and couldn't stand fighting with the tube all night because it was pulling from the side of the bed. The HoseBuddy has made all that better which is great. I even keep my mask hooked onto the HoseBuddy during the day as it gives me somewhere to put it and keeps it out of the way.

The problem I am having though, is when I am laying in bed watching TV (not ready to put the mask on yet), the HoseBuddy hook will not stay rotated so it is flush against the wall when I push it in that position. Instead, even the minor amount of weight from the hanging mask combined with gravity makes it rotate into the overhead position like it should be while I'm sleeping, and then I'm laying in bed watching TV with the bottom of my mask dangling on top of my head. Even if I could somehow add the slightest amount of resistance to where the top piece of the HoseBuddy connects to the pole, I think this would be enough to stop this from happening. Does anyone have any suggestions on how they've dealt with this? Thanks

If I understand correctly, the hose runs from the CPAP machine, up to the Hose Buddy arm, and then down to you.
If that is so, try looping the mask section over the other side of the hose as it goes up to the Hose Buddy arm.
That should keep it from drooping down on you.

Of course, you will have to retrieve it when you mask up.
And, watching TV in bed is not really good sleep hygiene - but if it works for you, it's OK.
