Travel machine and Insurance

Post by Mkatz27 » Thu Jan 30, 2014 4:15 am

I probably know this answer but, will Insurance typically cover the costs of a Travel machine like the Z1 in addition to a home unit? I travel quite a bit and it seems easier to have a dedicated travel unit.

I doubt very seriously if they will. It's hard enough getting one out of them sometimes.

I would be surprized (no, AMAZED) if any insurance did cover that!

Most of us acquire a backup / travel machine by merely keeping the old machine when we acquire a new one.

If it is that important to you, you should consider trying to find a used machine for a reasonable price.

Unlike his passengers who died screaming as the car went over the cliff...

If there is such a plan, the premiums are probably dreadful!
I wonder if fire departments ever supply a firehouse machine for smoke-eaters who have to sleep at the station?

Medicare and Kaiser no way, but it's always worth asking your private insurer. All they can say is no, and you might have the rare one that says yes.

If you travel for an employer, it seems to me that a travel machine MIGHT qualify as a reasonable accommodation under the ADA. That might be worth talking to your HR person about.

I don't even know what the coverage is on your luggage from your "homeowner's" insurance, but it should come under that umbrella, shouldn't it?
