Any one have a water chamber for sale?

Post by Monstrosity » Tue Jan 28, 2014 5:08 pm

I'm looking for one of these and need it like tonight:

https://www.cpap.com/productpage/respir ... atures-tab

I'm sooo mad right now. Last night I pulled my water chamber out of the dishwasher and went to fill it up. I dumped water all over the place. The bottom plastic welds broke AGAIN! This is the second one I've gone though. Someone recommended buying a backup and like a dipshit I didn't take the advice. Best part is trying to find a local place that will sell you one is a crock of shit. They want your sleep study, insurance info, etc over a plastic water chamber!? Anyways I slept like crap and am just on here ranting. I'm planning on tonight's sleep to be just as bad as last nights.

While I'm thinking of it does anyone know of a safe product that I could use to seal the bottom aluminum piece back to the plastic? I'm guessing I'm SOL but figured I'd ask.

Sorry to hear about the chamber failing.
When you get a new one, I'd suggest not using the dishwasher. I suspect the water temp is too high.

I highly recommend using actual distilled water which won't cause all that gunk in the chamber.

There are water suppliers out there that mark the water as produced by distillation and other means. That is not distilled water.

The mineral content is what allows the little beasties to grow and prosper.

Have you asked if they will sell you one for cash? No insurance? I don't believe you need a prescription for replacement humid. They are not that expensive.

I just wanted to be sure you know you can remove the humidifier and plug the hose directly into the main blower unit.

Why don't/didn't you just order several from CPAP-dot-COM?

I was just going to say the same. CPAP.com has them for about 30.00! I do not put mine in the dishwasher! I top it off with Distilled water and go to sleep.

I agree with all above advice. As to the fix maybe Gorilla Glue? I would only glue from the outside.

I'm debating on ordering them from this site but two problems exist

1. It will take 3-4 days to reach me from Houston TX. That means possibly the weekend and Cleveland Clinic is "supposed" to have them in next week.

2. Cleveland only wants $15.00 a piece. I was going to order two of them. Not to sound overly cheap but every bit helps at this point. Almost 4 years ago I was diagnosed with POTS a form of Dysautonomia. I have small fiber neuropathy. Last year it was mild to severe sleep apnea. Two weeks ago degeneration of the lower spine due to osteoarthritis. I can go on and on but each year since the madness started my medical bills have ran me around $5K. I had to have two sleep studies done and one of them the insurance didn't cover. I have one more payment and that expense is behind me. Luckily I'm still employed make a decent wage have insurance, and the best part is you wouldn't be able to tell anything was wrong with me by looking at me.

The humidifier is a must for me. I unplugged that half of my machine and tried sleeping without it last night. After about an hour my throat hurt like crazy and still does. My humidifier needs to be cranked up to the max setting for me not to feel dry and even at that my mouth still does some days. One of my doctors suspects sjogrens but none of the blood tests have confirmed it.

I didn't think of that... I'll get some from work tomorrow and let everyone know how it goes!

I am ocd about keeping my stuff clean, especially with the laundry list of health issues I have at an early age. I use distilled water every time, I clean it every morning with a light solution of white vinegar and water, once a week I place it in the top of the dishwasher on the Eco cycle. Trust me when I get my next chamber it will be washed once a week by hand with a mild detergent and no more dishwasher. I'm already dreading going to bed tonight.

With mine, (it's bottom presses into the plastic top), mine cracked because I cocked it pushing it back on. The cure is NEVER take it apart to clean it, use distilled water only, dump and refill before bed daily. That should keep it clean, if not a little white vinegar and water shaken and dumped out and flushed with clean water, alls well. Jim

A ounce of prevention is cheaper than a $ 30 plastic cure!
