Goodknight 420E / Silverlining questions

Post by BNLfan » Sun May 28, 2006 3:19 pm

Hello!

I recently received a PB 420E APAP and just started using the Silverlining software.

Can anybody tell me if the compliance is ON by default, or if it has to be turned on manually?

Also, could anybody shed some light on a couple of abbreviations for me? The first is Apnea/CA. Is this a central apnea event?

The second is Runs (FL). I'm assuming that it has something to do with flow limitations, but I don't grasp the meaning fully.

I'd appreciate any help...thanks!

I was confused by that the first time I saw it...Compliance is supposed to be "OFF" by default, and should stay OFF. At first I thought "compliance off" meant that the machine wouldn't be collecting data. But that's not what it means.

With "Compliance OFF", the machine will still record your data and will display it properly in the SL3 software. It will also keep track of the hours used -- even with "Compliance OFF" (as it should be.)

Turning compliance "On" would make the PB 420E create an ungodly HUGE file, which I don't think can even be read by the SilverLining software. Believe me, you don't want it creating a "compliance ON" type of file.

Leave "compliance" set to "OFF".

Yes.

Look for -SWS's explanation on page 3 of this thread:
Jan 11, 2005 subject: Bman: Spirit Overnight Indices

Incidentally, -SWS's posts in that entire thread are a "must read" for anyone who wants to understand as much as possible about their 420E autopap.

Here are links to additional interesting posts by -SWS.

Neat little machine...that 420E auto. It's my primary machine of choice.

P.S. Also look for posts by ozij. She uses a 420E and is very knowledgable about the machine and the SilverLining software.

Rested gal,

Thanks so much for clearing up my confusion! I mistakenly thought that "compliance off" meant that the machine would not collect data. I'm *very* glad that you explained it to me.

Thanks also for the links to -SWS's posts! I looked at some of his posts after you mentioned them in another thread and was very impressed with his knowledge.

I appreciate your reply and help!

Craig's list. Know your seller (if possible), the machine, and be in a neutral location--with power, so you can check it out.
Be safe; don't get screwed.
