Tappap small hose keeps coming off at mask joint.

Post by nanwilson » Mon Jan 27, 2014 8:38 am

My tappap small hose started to come off occasionally a couple of months ago and all I did was push it back on. Now its coming off more frequently and starting to drive me nuts ... (or maybe that's nuttier than usual) . Anyone else have that problem and if you did how did you fix it.
Cheers
Nan

Good old redneck ingenuity - duct tape. That is the Red Green way.
No, couldn't resist. Probably what I would do but I am sure more experienced folks will chime in. I've only been at this three weeks.

Mine did that last night...came off at 5AM per the report where pressure stopped
but I didn't get up until 7AM....no wonder I had dreams where I couldn't breath and had major bladder inflation 2 hours in REM sleep where my OSA really likes to rock and roll.

I am thinking of a little duct tape myself but only on the short hose of the mask where it goes into long hose.
Just a couple little layers to make it a little thicker so it will stay stuck in the long hose a little more securely
I don't want to tape the mask hose directly to long hose...PITA if I need or want to switch masks and have to remove the tape.

I need to clarify... Mine is coming off at the mask not the heated hose . I was thinking a bit of plumbers leak tape, you know, the white stretchy stuff. You guys will know the actual name of it... not me, I'm just an old lady that knows nothing.... just ask my granddaughter . Don't know if it would be a health problem or not. It looks to me like it was put on the mask part with heat just like shrink wrap???? "Duct tape".... I don't think so, not on the mask part.

Oh THAT end....I haven't had that issue.
I would think a little plumbers tape would do the trick and I don't see it being a problem...I wouldn't be afraid to use it.

I think the tape you are talking about if Teflon Tape, if so it's not what you want to use. It doesn't stick to things, in fact its a lube, friction reducing product. Jim

I tried the tape on the mask part of the tube then put the hose over it, kinda like if you are fixing a small leak in a tap. Do you not think that is a good idea , you are our "fixit" expert? It took the slack out of the tube and now it doesn't seem to come apart.........for now. I didn't want to put any kind of tape on the outside of the connection as every time I wash it the tape would become gummy and get dirty and germy. And by the way, you are right, I now remember my hubby used to call it Teflon tape .
