did you try many different internet suppliers? ebay? i buy a lot of stuff from the UK, and i've usually found suppliers who will give me a more or less reasonable shipping rate. but if it makes you feel any better, some of us weren't too happy about US shipping rates from some suppliers who carry that product.

Yeah, tried ebay no joy. Also run a search for other suppliers could only find two and both were in the US. The shipping rate was ridiculous. I can ship the equivalent weight from the UK to the US for less than $5 and they want over $30 would like to try the product but not going to get ripped off for that amount.

obviously these suppliers don't want to ship to UK. but maybe there's an equivalent brand in the UK. Maybe you should try UK scuba shops?

Carlton,

.........alternative thinking here.........:

I could look into the shipping rates to your area from MY area.

I purchased enough to make the shipping charges to me worthwhile - that is, there is a minimum, about $5.00, even if ordering one.

I ordered mine from 123scuba.com

Our P.O. is closed today, but will check out the shipping from me to you, then add the charges together, & let you know if it is less expensive that way. Hard to believe it wouldn't be! THEY ship in a BOX, adding weight.

Offerocker, that would be great. 123scuba don't ship outside of the US, and can't find any dive shops outside the US that stock even a similar product. I've sent to and ordered from the US in the past and have never come accross anything even as near as expensive as what divebooty are quoting.

Carlton,

I ordered one tube from 123scuba.com and they sent a greasy little plastic envelope on the inside which contained the glue which comes in what I can only describe as a Chapstik container. I used it twice and after the second application (using only tiny amounts each time), it was empty. I wrote them an email explaining that I think I now know why it was greasy inside the plastic bag, that it must melt in warm temperatures in transit. They promised to send me a new one and never did.

So my suggestion would not be to order it from anywhere at all, especially if it has to travel from the USA to you, which involves a lot of time and perhaps temperature changes, as the same thing will probably occur after you receive it. Moogy, on this site, had a similar problem. She ordered three tubes and only one had enough in it. The two others, she experienced the same thing as I did. It, obviously, can't stand any heat and melts.

Wish I could be the bearer of better news, but don't want to see you waste your money and end up with an empty tube when it arrives. Good luck.

I ordered 2 tubes of the "seal" , both had also slightly melted, however, I was able to use even the material that had leaked into the zip lock bag. It takes so little to rub on the mask edges, that I don't think the loss in my case was anything to be concerned about. I believe that the material is most likely a silicone based grease, not a "glue" , I plan on trying some plain silicone grease, such as is commonly used to lubricate parts of water shutoff valves, to see how effective that would be.......definitely much cheaper and readily available in any hardware store.

This sounds like a messy way to get a seal. Fortunately, I don't have problems getting a seal with my Aura nasal pillows.

Here's a thought. Has anyone tried using 2-sided tape, like carpet tape?

Shame about the melting prob as this seal could be useful, pitty I can't get any over here. Niteair let me know how you get on with the silicone grease, messy yes, but the results could be interesting.

Carlton,

Never used this, but it may be something worth looking into and you can probably get it by you. Just a thought.
