Machine Recommendation

Post by nick250 » Tue Jan 21, 2014 8:38 pm

New Member, first post, hello all! Looking for some suggestions or ideas.

I am going to be replacing my eight year old RemStar C-Flex. I am looking for suggestions on a machine and a great customer service oriented online store.

Quick background: I am 63 years old, I was diagnosed with acute OSA in 2000 after a sleep study. I purchased a machine from the CPAPMAN and got terrific service. After using the machine for two days I was like a new man and have not missed a night since. In 2004 I came down with Chronic Fatigue Syndrome and replaced the original CPAP with the RemStar C-Flex in 2006,, again from Joe(?) CPAP Man in the hopes that maybe my old machine was defective or a new more advanced machine would help out with the CFS. No luck.

I had a second sleep study in 2008 and the results were the same as the first one in 2000.

I called yesterday and found out that CPAP Man had been sold to folks who seemed poorly informed about apnea as best I could tell, their English was not so hot so good communication was a problem. Not going to do business with them.

Looking around the" ResMed S9 AutoSet™ Auto CPAP Machine with H5i™ Heated humidifier, ClimateLine™ Tubing and Carrying Case from ResMed" looked good but I have no real way of knowing if it's a good product or not.

I wanted to run this by you folks before calling the sleep Doc from the 2008 study. The folks down in the trenches (that's you all) are often better informed than the Docs IMO. luckily cost is not a factor, I will be reimbursed for whatever amount I spend.

So please share your experiences or suggestions and get me pointed in the right direction. Many thanks!

Regards,

Nick

I have insurance so I have never purchased from them, but the host of this forum is cpap.com. They have a wonderful reputation and will match anyone's price.

It's a great machine and you won't be sorry if that is what you choose.
You could also consider the equivalent in Respironics if you wish...the PR System One 60 Series Auto CPAP with heated hose option.
I have used both brands...both are great. Minor pros and cons with either but none are deal breakers.

Pugsy and LSAT,

Thanks for the replies. I will check out the ResMed S9 and the Respionrics machine Pugsy suggested on CPAP.COM. "Wonderful reputation" works for me.

Regards,

Nick
