Tooth Extraction And Using Humidifier

Post by Riv » Sun Jan 19, 2014 11:47 pm

Hi, I posted earlier asking whether I could use my BiPap after a tooth extraction, thanking all who replied, I figured I'm better off using my machine. Wanted to know if it were ok to use the heated humidifier and to what number if so.

I've had an lower molar extraction and continued to use my PAP. The risk with any extraction is disturbing the blood clot where the tooth was pulled out, hence developing the feared dry socket (no blood clot to heal the socket) syndrome or developing an infection. Just make sure that your mask is not putting pressure on the extraction site (seems unlikely), and if so, discuss this with your oral surgeon. I did not change my humidifier settings. From my experience, my last extraction healed quicker than an extraction that I had the year before PAP. Good oxygenation assists the immune system and the healing process. Be sure to follow your postop advise sheet particularly as to hygiene and eating.
