do i wear my mask when i have an afternoon nap

hi I was diagnosed with sleep apnoea 2 years ago I find some nights I do very well but some nights I could through my mask across the room I still get tired through the day I work mornings in pharmacy and I am on my feet for 5 hours. Most afternoons I become tired and most days have about a 2 hour sleep in afternoon my question is should I wear my mask through these afternoon sleeps.

Yes.....always wear mask and use your machine anytime you sleep...even a short nap but especially a long nap.

I would, or just wear the chinstrap, but I don't take naps b/c they would interfere with my sleep. I sleep from 11:30 or midnight till 6:30, and then stay in bed for another hour watching TV. I am retired. I am convinced that taking 5 mg of Zolpidem (generic Ambien) consolidates my sleep. It allows me to get up to urinate twice a night and fall back to sleep, immediately, with no problems. It's a very small dose. No more during the day. I have no hang overs and no daytime sleepiness. BUT, I am not INSOMNIAC. Just a plain OSA sufferer. I also take 0.5 mg of Alprazolam (generic Xanax) and Gabapentin at 6 p.m. If I was feeling sleepy or have a headache during the daytime I would then take another 0.5 mg of Alprazolam, instead of a nap.

Sleep is sleep. If you stop breathing at night you will stop breathing when you sleep during the day.

I took a nap without my mask too tired to turn on oxygen machine and put mask on. Won't do that again. Woke up feeling more tired than before with the worse headache. Learned my lesson.

The idea of the therapy is to hold airway open so that you can sleep and breath at the same time. It is very important.

"Bucco" hit the exact reply I was going to give: ABSOLUTELY! There are few things more refreshing than a CPAP nap.

One caveat would be to ask you if your gear leaves marks on your face. If it doesn't, no sweat. If it does, you may have a decision to make regarding length of nap, time you took it, or if your mask is too tight.
