Questions on how to read data on PR-S1 Auto
Questions on how to read data on PR-S1 Auto
A few months ago I updated my old machine with a PR S1 Auto. It is currently set up in CPAP only configuration and I would like to change this and utilize some of the capabilities of this new machine. I understand I have to download the Sleepyhead software but how do I get the data from the machine to my computer ? USB cable ? a specific reader ?
As far as changing from CPAP to Bilevel auto (?) are their any suggestions ? Off the top of my head I know my pressure setting for CPAP is 20. Are there any other things I need to know to make the change ? Or do I have to wait and get the data downloaded ?

Re: Questions on how to read data on PR-S1 Auto
Just download either (or both) sleepyhead or encore to your computer, take the sd card out of your machine... its at the back left hand side just under the top, put it into your computer and go. To change settings or to change to auto go to apneaboard.com and download the clinicians instructions for your specific machine.
I would not just change your pressure willy-nilly, I would read your data for about a week and see how things are going, then if you nead to do a change do so, but keep that change for about a week before you change it again. I would certainly change your pressure to auto though, that way you can see if 20 is actually your proper setting, DMEs have been known to set things wrong before and I'm sure they will keep doing it . I would set it at 15 lower to 20 max if your machine is indeed a pr system 1 auto and not a bipap.... if its a bipap I have no clue, one of the others that have knowledge about bipaps will chime in soon.

Re: Questions on how to read data on PR-S1 Auto
You need an SD card stuck in the SD slot of the machine to record the data (the machine probably came with one) and an SD card reader. Many modern computers have a built-in SD card reader slot. If yours does, you don't need anything else other than SleepyHead. If your computer does not have an SD card slot, then you need a generic SD card reader that is usually attached to the computer via a USB cable. SD card readers are readily available because many digital cameras use them to record pictures. You can usually find one for abouy $10 at places like Target, Wal-Mart, Office Max, etc.cw_mi wrote:A few months ago I updated my old machine with a PR S1 Auto. It's also helpful to have the clinical manual for the machine as well as the user manual. If you don't have the clinical manual, you can find it over at http://www.apneaboard.com
Do you mean changing from CPAP to APAP since you say your machine is a System One AUTO?As far as changing from CPAP to Bilevel auto (?) are their any suggestions ? A bi-level is a different kind of machine altogether and it requires a different prescription. If your prescription says "CPAP at x cm", then you can buy a CPAP or an APAP, but you can't buy a BiPAP or a VPAP, which are the bilevel PAPS made by PR and Resmed respectively.

Re: Questions on how to read data on PR-S1 Auto
Hi, new here but been on a PR s1 for about 6 months.
I'm struggling a bit but to keep on subject was looking for software to read the data from my machine to see what's happening.
My sleep tech had Encore Basic but I can't seem to find this anywhere online.
Anyone able to help please?
Many thanks in advance

Re: Questions on how to read data on PR-S1 Auto
Thanks for the replies. It is indeed an Auto, this new machine has nothing to do with my original prescription. I will have to get a card reader since my desktop does not have one. Once I get that I will post up my data.
I will also get the clinical manual, all I have is the manual that came with the machine. As far as the CPAP, BiPAP, Bilevel thing, that is my mistake. I do not have the terminology down correctly. Basically I want to switch from straight CPAP to where my inhale pressure is different from my exhale pressure and the machine can detect exactly what pressures are needed. That is why I went with this machine, unless I misunderstood what it can do.

Your equipment profile shows that you are using a PR System One REMstar 60 Series Plus CPAP Machine with C-Flex, which unfortunately records no data except for compliance data---i.e. it records how long you use the machine each day, but nothing else.
Please confirm whether your machine's model number is 260 or 261. If it is, there's no point in getting the Encore software because all it will show you is how long you used the machine each night. And that's all it will show your sleep tech as well.
You need a Pro (model 460 or 461) or higher to have efficacy data recorded.

Re: Questions on how to read data on PR-S1 Auto
Thanks for replying - the SD card records all the data, I was using a sleep tech who was doing this and going through the reports with me.
The numbers on my unit read - Philips Respironics Syst 1 REMstar Auto A-Flex, DOM (?) REF 560P... I'll go and correct my profile
Thanks

Re: Questions on how to read data on PR-S1 Auto
hi folks,
I have just started using A Philips RemStar Auto A-Flex.
It has the SD card which I can see the files on (they end in extensions .001 .002 and .005) I have tried reading them with Sleepyhead (V0.9.3) but it shows no files at all.
I have uploaded the files to Enkor which seems to show some of the data but not all.
The suppliers did a print out for me today and it shows quite a bit more time range than Enkor does. I assume this is because there are multi files for the night where the recording stops and starts (some nights have up to 6 sets of files, only one night has a single set). I guess that Enkor shows only one or two files but the suppliers software can concatenate all the files.
So my real question
How can I get sleepy head to work at all?
or
How can I get Enkor to show all the data?
Regards
SWK

Re: Questions on how to read data on PR-S1 Auto
To get Sleepyhead to "see" the files, you just point it to the root folder of the SD card. If you drill down any further than that it won't "see" the files. Back out a folder or two and see if that works.

Onkor can't show all the data.Guest wrote:How can I get sleepy head to work at all?

SleepyHead should work with your machine. I suspect you are going to far into the SD card during your import navigation.
Stop at the drive letter where the SD card sits. If anything other than the drive letter is showing in the directory choose box you have gone to far. Common error that people make.
SleepyHead works with multiple machines so it doesn't look for just the P series folder that Respironics has... it knows to look in the entire SD card.
If you wish to have Respironics Encore software...send me a private message and tell me what operating system is only your computer and again which cpap machine you are using (I know I will forget ) then I can get you pointed to the Encore program that works best on your computer.
Windows only though...and if you have Windows 8.0 or 8.1 I need to know...it makes a big difference.
Windows 7 or older easy peasy.

Thanks for that (I was sure I tried all the different permutations of folders before, but obviously not!)
