Weird Loud Noise

Post by Jaywolf » Mon Dec 30, 2013 8:41 pm

The last two nights my husband has been home with me (he works nights). On both nights I have woken up a couple of times to a really loud noise, sounds to me like a road drill coming from inside my mask. My husband said it sounded like a car starting up outside to him. What the heck is it? There didn't seem to be any leaks.. could I have been snoring but the sound was weird because I was wearing a full mask?

Anyone else experienced this?

Sounds to me like condensation building up in your hose......"rainout". Then, the accumulation gets to a point where it blocks the air trying to get through.

Does your SleepHead report show vibratory snores in the reports?

Does the data confirm there's no leak problem?

Does the data say anything about whether you are snoring?

If the data rules out those two things, then rainout in the hose may be the culprit. The only time I've had serious rainout was on a sleep test. And it took me quite a while to figure out that is was NOT a leak since I don't deal with rainout on a regular basis.

The next time it happens, disconnect the hose and see if you get some water running out of it. (You may want to have something to catch the water. If it is rainout, there are things you can do to minimize the problem. Do a search for rainout solutions and you should get some hits.

I swear I had one instance where the anti asphyxia valve started flapping/buzzing like a harmonica or kazoo. It woke me up from being completely asleep so I don't remember it all that clearly but I remember it vibrating the mask and making the buzzing noise.

At the time it was a Quattro FX.

I remember the AA valve making a big ruckus on the FF431.
I had to get up and straighten the blessed thing out with tweezers.
I figure I must have sneezed in my sleep.
