Really tired lately - new smaller Mirage FX mask

Post by birdygirl38 » Sun Dec 29, 2013 6:35 pm

I am confused about what to do next.
I have been on CPAP for a year and two months.
Recently I changed supply providers and they got me a Mirage FX for her. I had been using that for a year. Tried a wisp for a month but was not comfortable in the headgear - not sure why.
I didn't notice the new Mirage was a sm not a standard size. I like that the small doesn't poke me in the corners of my eyes. It seems to fit better if I get it situated just right on the bridge of my nose otherwise it leaks and I know right away.

My sleepyhead stats are great AHI below 1 most nights, very few events less than 10 a night and the leak data seems good but I am just never sure how to read that correctly. All these stats are since the new mask. Both large leaks < 10 and total leaks (run between 17 and 26) seem to be good. Most nights 6 hours or more but some lately less than 4 hours of sleep. I also had one night with 7+ hours of sleep with no events and an AHI of zero.

Was feeling so much energy until a few weeks ago. Maybe I am just tired out by all the holiday work as a personal chef and family stuff. Back to my whole food detox diet on January 1 - maybe that will pump me back up. So much easier when the kids are back in school and all the holiday sweets are gone.

Saw my PCP recently and she was so happy with all my blood work and weight loss over the past 2 years ( down 40 of the 80 pounds I need to lose).
I had her test my thyroid too and she said it was good but still not sure there based on some research I have done on a reputable thyroid forum. She didn't test enough of the different hormones. I will have to try again.

When do the sleep docs do another sleep study to check how you are really doing?

I feel like I am back in the brain fog zone, like I was before CPAP. Any tips or any other things I should be looking at?

I feel your frustration. I've got great AHI numbers bolstered by good sleep hygiene but I do struggle with somewhat short hours of sleep and insomnia. I'm in the process of checking meds, diet and other things just as you are, but it's not easy to sort things out. I'm not sure what to tell you since I'm in the same boat, however keep plugging away and hopefully you'll find the problem and solve it. SNO

I like my ResMed AirFit F10 FFM - reasonably low leaks for my ASV therapy. I'm currently using a PR S1 AutoSV 960P Advanced. I also keep a ResMed S9 Adapt as backup. I use a heated Hibernite hose. Still rockin' with Win 7 by using GWX to stop Win 10.
